Balance sheet statements

Company activities and impact

PART 1 - GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE COMPANY’S ACTIVITIES AND IMPACT In the space provided below, please insert a general account of the company’s activities in the financial year to which the report relates, including a description of how they have benefited the community. Over the course of this year Make the Sunshine has: Organised 89 shows and performances in rural communities Led 216 creative workshops Worked in 20 different venues and performances spaces Worked with 62 different artists and companies Provided creative provision for all ages from 0-102 Our volunteers gave 1078 hours We have had 12,182 attendances We worked with 4087 workshop participants Our core programmes of work have been Held a series of residencies across primary schools where young people formed programming panels, organised their own events, invited in local communities and hosted their own performances. Young people also got to explore and develop skills with visiting companies such as puppetry, oracy, dance. Creative Communities: Inspiring monthly creative performances and workshops for older adults from opera to belly dance. Building networks with GPs, bereavement charities and isolated older adults and reducing isolation A sense of hope, ambition, positivity, fun and friendship and increasing diversity Change Makers: Professional workshops in dance/theatre connecting a huge range of people across communities in Mendip. Launched with an immersive workshop programme. Increasing confidence, self esteem, and enabling people to learn about local historical women through a whole range of creative workshops - with a special focus on young people with ASD and older adults to create a professional performance Arts Ambassadors Working with 12 young people from 6 schools. Gaining skills, experience and confidence in arts management, programming and creativity and gaining their Discover Arts Award Held our Five Year anniversary of All the World's Our Playground. An annual festival of magical family theatre and walkabout acts programmed by young people. An amazing free theatre experience providing families without access to this provision a first taste of theatre The only UK festival programmed by primary aged children. Programmed across a huge number of venues across the town Christmas Wanderland: An annual community festival turning Shepton Mallet's windows into a community art gallery to darken up the winter evenings - bringing the work of a wide range of community groups to the high street. Bringing together different communities for creative sessions. Shadow Puppetry: Led immersive shadow puppetry workshops across a huge range of schools to make a shadow puppetry film celebrating the history of snowdrops in Shepton Mallet. Offering many young people a first taste of puppetry. Schools programme - working with a range of schools to provide young people access to creative provision and imagination boosting events and professional theatre. We were part of Without Walls Creative Development Network giving us the opportunity to network with outdoor arts organisations from across the country abunDANCE: working across three SEND schools and with older adults in Mendip bringing in professional dance workshops and performers and leading CPD sessions for local teachers and tutors laying the foundations for establishing an inclusive dance company Our funders and supporters for this year included: Shepton Mallet Town Council, Arts Council England National Lottery Project Grants Historic England, Sport England, Shepton Mallet Snowdrop Festival, Somerset Community Foundation, Interim Spaces Our partner schools and care homes Volunteers supporting our programmes. Consultation with stakeholders

PART 2 – CONSULTATION WITH STAKEHOLDERS – A “stakeholder” is any person or organisation affected by the company’s activities. Please indicate who the company’s stakeholders are; how the stakeholders have been consulted and what action has the company taken in response to feedback from its consultations. If there has been no consultation you must state ‘There has been no stakeholder consultation held’. We have had a student programming panel of primary school students engaged in decision Making and a youth board who have helped shape our activity. We have worked with a wide range of local business owners and organisations and artists and collected a range of public feedback on all events – verbal and written which has been used to inform our future development and organisational strategy. We have worked in partnership with Shepton Mallet Town Council to deliver Change Makers working with a huge number of local stakeholders. We work in partnership with a huge number of schools, artists, participants and organisaions. We regularly review projects with feedback forms, verbal communication and open meetings.
