Company activities and impact

Recapture Life continues to provide Cognitive Stimulation Therapy CST in the Havant Waterlooville and Fareham Gosport areas of Hampshire. This provides a much needed group to provide mental stimulation for people with mild to moderate dementia. This intervention is also in the NICE Guidelines to help slow the progression of dementia. In September 2024 we took over 2 existing monthly Groups and turned these into weekly groups to provide continuity and prevention of Social Isolation. The Groups are in Cowplain and Bridgemary provide a place for Carers, people with a dementia, anyone socially isolated and those needing support. Both these groups have grown, even though they are on a weekly basis. We see at least 20 people at Cowplain each week and between 15 and 20 people at Bridgmary. These groups provide a warm hub, fun, laughter, quizzes and support for our members. We initiated 2 cookery groups. One for the person with dementia at Fareham College, working with the students and the other in Portchester for Carers who have not previously been the main cook in their household. This enabled them to learn how to cook nutritious meals containing no ultra processed food. We also offered Equine Therapy for people with dementia and their carers We have at least one volunteer to support each group We ran a Christmas Party for our members and others in the Community. A member of Dementia Friendly Havant and Dementia Friendly Fareham. One of the Organisers of the Havant Dementia Festival Stands at dementia events We received the following grants to support our project: National Lottery, Household Support Scheme Quotes from our members and their carers: “I don’t know where I would be without all your help and support” “This is the only group he will go to and he has tried many”. “You do an amazing job providing so much for the community, thank you for all you do.” Purchasing Policy: We use a local scrapstore for our resources We purchase from Charity shops as and when we can We always look for the lowest cost item by shopping around
