YouthBuilders CIC runs a community focused property maintenance and improvement service designed to create real work opportunities for young people who are currently out of employment or education. Our Youth Operatives learn how to prepare sites, manage materials, organise and deliver projects from start to finish, and carry out the technical tasks required by our partners. Every project has a social purpose, giving young people the chance to build skills while improving spaces that matter to local residents. Our aim is to support young people to develop the confidence, experience and construction skills needed to progress into long term work in the sector. In the financial year 2023–2024, YouthBuilders CIC achieved the following. 1. Skills Development: 54 young people took part in practical construction training and gained valuable site based experience. 2.Community Projects: YouthBuilders delivered four community improvement projects. This included extensive works at Downham Leisure Centre, where our Youth Operatives refreshed communal spaces, and helped create a brighter and more welcoming youth space for local users. 3.Housing Maintenance: YouthBuilders continued to work with Housing Associations, carrying out repairs, maintenance, and decorative upgrades for residents across South London. 4.Bringing Homes Back Into Use: 12 empty homes were refurbished by our teams, allowing them to be returned to the community for new tenants. 5.Progression Into Work: 75% of Youth Operatives moved into full time jobs post YouthBuilders and two began an Apprenticeship with YouthBuilders 6.Supporting Local Residents: 12 households were able to move into renovated properties completed by YouthBuilders, improving their living conditions and contributing to community stability. YouthBuilders CIC continues to champion the potential of young people and to strengthen local communities by delivering practical, high quality work that creates opportunity and impact.
