The company’s activities and impact Although Yuniya CIC did not undertake trading activities during this financial year and recorded no income or expenditure, we focused on establishing the foundations needed to deliver future community benefit. The work carried out during this period has supported our mission in the following ways: Community engagement groundwork: We began developing relationships with residents, local organisations, and community partners to identify the needs of people over 40, disabled adults, and Global Majority communities in relation to nature access, storytelling, and environmental education. Programme development: We designed the initial framework for our core programmes, including nature-based storytelling, accessible outdoor experiences, and creative workshops aimed at improving wellbeing, connection to nature, and cultural awareness. Research and planning: We undertook extensive research into accessible green spaces, age-inclusive programme design, and culturally rooted storytelling practices. This groundwork ensures that our activities will directly benefit underserved communities once delivery begins. Volunteer engagement: We connected with volunteers from Global Majority backgrounds who will support future activities, ensuring the organisation remains community-led. Digital accessibility preparation: We began planning for accessible digital content, including captioned videos, simplified learning materials, and online storytelling sessions, which will enable wider community access when the programmes launch. While no direct delivery occurred during the year, the preparatory work completed has strengthened Yuniya CIC’s foundations and will enable meaningful community impact in the coming financial year.
During the financial year, Yuniya CIC carried out informal consultation with a range of community stakeholders to guide the development of our future programmes and to help ensure the organisation is sustainable. Who our stakeholders are: Local community members and families Disabled adults and people with limited access to nature Volunteers and supporters from Global Majority communities Local organisations and partners interested in outdoor access, culture, and storytelling Individuals who have engaged with our early ideas or expressed interest in our work How consultation took place: Informal conversations with community members and volunteers Early discussions with partner organisations about accessible outdoor activities, storytelling sessions, and cultural programmes Feedback gathered while sharing initial ideas for our nature-based and creative storytelling plans Conversations with supporters while developing a small product line to help build financial sustainability Actions taken in response: We began shaping our upcoming programmes around the needs highlighted during consultation, including culturally rooted storytelling, accessible outdoor experiences, and creative community activities Feedback emphasised sustainability and long-term consistency, so we are developing products and offerings to support the CIC’s income in the coming year Insights from community members influenced the design of sessions that incorporate culture, nature, wellbeing, and creative learning Although we did not deliver formal activities this year, the consultation carried out has directly informed our planning and the development of programmes for the next financial year.
