  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, excluding discounts, rebates, value added tax and other sales taxes.

    Other accounting policies

Taxation Taxation for the year comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the Income Statement, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity. Current or deferred taxation assets and liabilities are not discounted. Current tax is recognised at the amount of tax payable using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the balance sheet date. Deferred tax Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet date. Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognised in financial statements. Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the year end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference. Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits.

COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

ACCESS SPORT BMX CIC

Company Number: 10603583 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 March 2025

Company activities and impact

Working together with its parent Access Sport CIO the Company has undertaken significant consultation with local communities in London (Borough of Redbridge), Essex County Council (Colchester) and Salford City Council (Cadishead, Greater Manchester) to identify areas of need and to establish relationships that will be important to ensure the local communities take full advantage of the planned BMX tracks.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our work includes consultation with local schools & youth organisations, the national governing body for cycling (British Cycling), local councils, including their parks, public health, sport and active travel departments and local community partnership, including housing associations and community partnerships. After agreeing what would be an appropriate site for a BMX track, based on this local intelligence, need, demand and suitability the Company has then conducted a public consultation exercise to understand the views of the local community around that site. This has involved a community open day where representatives from Access Sport CIO, the local council and local councillors are on hand to hear residents’ views, answer questions about the proposals and give people a taster experience of BMX cycling. People have also been encouraged to submit their feedback through a hard copy form, email, phone or social media. If the site is considered appropriate, following this extensive consultation, then an application for planning permission has been submitted, through which formal consultation is conducted with other stakeholders such as the local police, Highways Environment Agency and English Heritage
