Directors' report period ended
The directors present their report with the financial statements of the company for the period ended 31 March 2025
Additional information
During the year the Company continued to improve its free practical, accessible, and resource-rich online toolkit. In August 2024, the Company received a grant of £7,500 from The Savoy Educational Trust to create and trial a series of dynamic workshops aimed at inspiring the next generation of chefs to think critically about agroecology, sourcing, and the impact of their menu choices. Following the year end and the delivery of an impact report, the Savoy Educational Trust has agreed to support the Company for a further year to carry out further workshops across the UK. The loss of £1,226 in the year reflects the additional costs incurred to build the web site. The Director considers the financial position to remain stable and expects performance to improve in the coming year.

No Mise en Plastic C.I.C (NMEP) is a chef/grower-led Community Interest Company providing free resources to help professional kitchens support the transition to a resilient and agroecological food system that supports both people and the planet. Launched in 2021, our free online manual to eliminate single-use items and minimise waste has grown through global chef collaborations and research into best practices. NMEP is a platform for a growing network of industry workers to share practical, creative solutions for low-waste kitchens. Our latest tool, Today’s Menu, developed with food systems experts, offers pioneering guidance on climate-resilient ingredients that hospitality professionals should be championing on their menus today. Supported by the Savoy Educational Trust, for two consecutive years, the Today’s Menu Project is designed to highlight the crucial role chefs play in driving positive change in the food system. It includes a practical, accessible, resource-rich online toolkit and a series of dynamic workshops aimed at inspiring the next generation of chefs to think critically about agroecology, sourcing, and the impact of their menu choices. The Today’s Menu website is a free, accessible resource that demystifies climate-resilient ingredients and offers practical actions chefs can take to make their menus more sustainable.
NMEP’s stakeholders are farmers, chefs and hospitality workers, and the educational establishments that support those workers. Currently, most catering schools and universities lack sufficient content focused on the inclusion of specific agroecological foods in menus and the vital restoration of the chef-farmer relationship. Chefs have the power to shape food trends through their menu choices and they will play a vital role in encouraging these dietary changes. In collaboration with the University of West London (UWL), NMEP delivered workshops at 16 colleges and training centres across the UK during the ’24–’25 academic year, reaching 345 hospitality students and trainee chefs. The response has been overwhelmingly positive: colleges described the sessions as “vital” and “game-changing”, and students left feeling motivated and empowered.
