Report of the Trustees
For The Year Ended 31 March 2025
The trustees who are also directors of the charity for the purposes of the Companies Act 2006, present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 March 2025. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019).
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives and aims
The objectives of the company is to provide extra-curricular activities for children in the area up to the age of 18 and to provide facilities for adults, particularly the elderly and vulnerable..
Significant activities
Four clubs run weekly plus a weekly parent and toddler group. All these groups are well attended and knowledge that these clubs are able to continue for the foreseeable future is a very good thing for the children and their parents, especially in an area where there is very little extra-curricular activities for children due to the remote location.
Fortnightly community lunch sessions for all the community have been introduced following a successful trial in the previous year.
A lot of hard work has been input to this project from a small committee but thanks to the grant awards the Farr Edge 2000 has a positive future.
During the year, grants were recieved from SSE and the Caithness and North Sutherland Fund. These grants were unrestricted and the money in the bank account is ring fenced for paying the youth workers and development officers and the general running costs of Farr Edge 2000 going forward.
ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
Charitable activities
The charitable activities carried out were in accordance with the aims and objective of the organisation which is to provide facilities for the under 18s.
Fundraising activities
The main income received is grants, but a small amount of fundraising is carried out most years in order to boost the funds.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
Principal funding sources
The principal funders during the year were SSE and the Caithness and North Sutherland Fund.
These grants are to provide activities for adults (particularly the elderly/vulnerable) which include regular lunch club and music afternoons.
Reserves policy
There is one unrestricted fund which exists to facilitate the day to day running of Farr Edge 2000. There is a deficit this year, which has been covered by a surplus of funds brought forward from the previous year.
An Endowment Fund exists representing the building donated to the organisation.

Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of
Farr Edge 2000
I report on the accounts for the year ended 31 March 2025 set out on pages four to twelve.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended). The charity's trustees consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1)(a) to (c) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under Section 44(1)(c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of the independent examiner's report
My examination was carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
Independent examiner's statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention :
| (1) | which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect, the requirements |
| - | to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 44(1)(a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations; and |
| - | to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with Regulation 8 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations |
have not been met; or
| (2) | to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. |
