| Many of the initiatives outlined in last year's statement, following the purchase by Retail Development Consultancy ("RDC") of Shircombe Farm, a 220-acre estate on the edge of Exmoor, have been achieved as we continue our strategy to establish Shircombe as a diversified rural business. During the year we renewed several important commercial contracts, including the production of crops to generate bio-methane, winter grazing sheep, housing cattle and the expansion of our sporting licence. Our experiment of converting historical grass pasture to triticale (wheat/rye hybrid) production was a success and yields of circa four tonnes per acre were achieved. We have planted herbal leys in accordance with our obligation with DEFRA's Sustainable Farming Initiative. |
| The process of converting redundant stone agricultural buildings to short-term holiday lets is set to continue, with our first property enjoying high levels of occupancy and positive customer reviews. During the coming year we will be exploring the opportunity to convert further buildings. |
| The business was profitable in the year, and as such, interest on Directors' loans to the business become liable for payment; however, the Directors have decided to keep all money in the business to continue restoring the farm's physical fabric and grow the business. |
| The Board has confirmed that the Company continues to have access to sufficient funds to meet ongoing costs and expansion. |
