  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

    Tangible fixed assets held for the company's own use are stated at cost less accumulated depreciation and any accumulated impairment losses. Depreciation is charges at 20% per annum on a reducing balance basis.

    Other accounting policies

    Trade and other creditors Short term and long term creditors are measured at the transaction price.

Company activities and impact

Breaking Down Barriers provides Guest Speakers, Training, Mentoring and Advocacy Ser-vices for vulnerable young people. Activity in the year was slow but is showing a steady in-crease with planning made for future projects. There were several projects completed in the year, giving a much-needed addition to sales. The director continues to support the company and a number of projects have been commenced in the subsequent year. A further 54 hours of external advocacy has taken place, giving much needed assistance in the community. In addition, we have delivered 9 hours of free motivational talks to women’s groups, focused on empowerment, confidence building and supporting women returning to work later in life, contributing to diversity and inclusion outcomes.

Consultation with stakeholders

During 2024 – 2025 Breaking Down Barrier’s activities have been expanded, new projects taking place. Four projects were completed in the year and it is expected sales will substantially increase in the coming year. The proposed activities include: One to one mentoring vulnerable young people helping them to overcome many barriers to achieve their full potential and widen their life chances. Advocacy services working with vulnerable adults and young people who are in an unsecured housing position. This is particularly focused on young persons with a risk of homelessness and who have additional needs, such as Autism and ADHD. New Equality training programs have been developed Through our informal community initiative, Trinity Rising, we have facilitated 16 hours of peer-support discussions that promote wellbeing, personal development, and resilience among women navigating life transitions. These activities collectively demonstrate our commitment to breaking down social, structural, and emotional barriers for people from a wide range of backgrounds, and ensuring that our services continue to benefit the community without cost.

During the year the operational director received £5,158 salary under PAYE.
