Notes to the Financial Statements

for the Period Ended 30 June 2025

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, net of discounts and value added taxes. Turnover includes revenue earned from the sale of goods and from the rendering of services. Turnover from the sale of goods is recognised when the significant risks and rewards of ownership of the goods have transferred to the buyer. Turnover from the rendering of services is recognised by reference to the stage of completion of the contract. The stage of completion of a contract is measured by comparing the costs incurred for work performed to date to the total estimated contract costs.

    Other accounting policies

A current tax liability is recognised for the tax payable on the taxable profit of the current and past periods. A current tax asset is recognised in respect of a tax loss that can be carried back to recover tax paid in a previous period. Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences between the recognition of income and expenses in the financial statements and their inclusion in tax assessments. Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits. Deferred tax is measured using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the reporting date and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference, except for revalued land and investment property where the tax rate that applies to the sale of the asset is used. Current and deferred tax assets and liabilities are not discounted.

COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

MUSIC EVERMORE CIC

Company Number: 15800110 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 June 2025

Company activities and impact

Since our launch on 24th June 2024, Music Evermore CIC has been committed to providing accessible, engaging, and high-quality music education to children and young people in the community, with a specific focus on South Manchester and neighbouring areas. Our mission is to ensure every child, regardless of their background, has access to the transformative power of music. Key Activities: 1. Weekly Music Sessions: Delivered free and subsidised music tuition, workshops, and one-to-one instrument lessons to children and young people across various schools, including St Mary’s Primary, Webster Primary, Claremont Primary and Peel Hall Academy Primary School. Sessions were tailored to different age groups, following the national music curriculum while fostering creativity and confidence. 2. Wythenshawe Forum Creative Space: Launched weekly community music sessions at this central venue, ensuring accessibility for local students and young musicians. These sessions focus on both individual skill development and collaborative band work, culminating in showcase performances. 3. Rock Bands and Choirs: Established rock bands, ukulele clubs, and a Rock ‘n’ Roll Choir, catering to diverse musical interests. These initiatives have encouraged teamwork, performance skills, and creative expression among participants. 4. Support for Schools Facing Hardship: Collaborated with Peel Hall Primary, a school under significant financial and staffing challenges, to deliver enriching music education. This involved equipping the school with a dedicated music tutor and delivering sessions that inspired children to engage with music in ways they had not experienced before. 5. 1-to-1 Music Tuition and Graded Exams: Supported students preparing for graded music exams, with many achieving exceptional results, including distinctions and merits, reflecting their dedication and the high-quality tuition they received. Community Benefits: 1. Increased Access to Music Education: By providing free and subsidised sessions, we removed financial barriers that might have otherwise prevented young people from engaging with music. 2. Building Confidence and Creativity: Our programmes have helped young people develop confidence through performance opportunities, such as school showcases and community events. These moments of celebration brought families and the wider community together to support their achievements. 3. Fostering Community Cohesion: Through events and regular sessions, Music Evermore CIC has created spaces for people from all backgrounds to come together, strengthening community ties through the shared love of music. 4. Skills Development: Participants not only learned technical music skills but also soft skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. 5. Supporting Local Talent and Schools: Our presence in schools like Peel Hall has filled a gap in creative education, providing stability and inspiration for students who might otherwise lack exposure to such opportunities. Music Evermore CIC’s activities have been made possible thanks to the generous support of our funders, including Manchester City Council, Rising Tide AI, and Heist or Hit, as well as the commitment of our passionate team of tutors and volunteers.
