Balance sheet statements

For the year ending 31 March 2025 the company was entitled to exemption under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.

The members have not required the company to obtain an audit in accordance with section 476 of the Companies Act 2006.

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Other accounting policies

    Basis of accounting The financial statements are prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with the FRS 105 Financial Reporting Standard for Micro Entities (effective January 2016). Going Concern The financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basis. The company's ongoing activities are dependent upon the continued support of the directors who have undertaken to provide such support for the foreseeable future. If the going concern basis were not appropriate, adjustments would have to be made to reduce the value of assets to their recoverable amount, to provide for any further liabilities that may arise and to reclassify fixed assets as current assets and long term liabilities as current liabilities.

Company activities and impact

Pricing & Accessibility A mixture of free and paid sessions offered throughout the year. Concession rate available for low-income participants; approximately 5% accessed this support. Commitment to removing financial barriers and widening access to nature-based wellbeing support. Targeting all age groups and people with a specific focus on those with disabilities. Community Activities & Benefits Volunteer Day (Free Event) Activities included clearing rubbish, gardening, and removing tree guards from maturing trees. Provided a warm meal for all volunteers. Boosted gardening skills, confidence, and sense of ownership over the land. Strengthened community cohesion, improved local green space, and encouraged active citizenship. Solstice Gathering (Free Event) Offered crafts, fire-cooked food, children’s outdoor play, and adult wellbeing activities. Fostered intergenerational connection, cultural celebration, and opportunities to socialise in nature. Encouraged community belonging and reduced social isolation. Tree Babies (6-Week Programme) Supported new mums and their babies with mindfulness, nature connection, and gentle wellbeing practices. Benefits included reduced stress, improved emotional health, early bonding, and accessible peer support. Helped build resilient, confident new parents within the community. Youth Group Sessions (3 Sessions, in partnership with YouthWorks) Supported teens experiencing challenges at school. Focused on building confidence, resilience, emotional regulation, and healthy peer relationships. Provided a safe, nature-based alternative to indoor youth support services. Forest School Holiday Camps (24 Sessions) Delivered inclusive camps during school holidays. Approximately 50% of participants were disabled children who face barriers in mainstream childcare. Outcomes included: Improved confidence and independence Development of new outdoor skills Enhanced wellbeing, physical activity, and social interaction Provided essential school-holiday support for families with additional needs. Forest School Term-Time Sessions Primarily for home-educated, flexi-schooled, and disabled children. Filled an important gap for children who cannot attend school full-time due to health, sensory, or emotional needs. Supported: Overall wellbeing Skill development Social and emotional learning Healthy lifestyle habits Stress reduction Offered a nurturing environment promoting belonging, autonomy, and gentle education. Branching Out (Adult Programme – Free to participants to attend, working with DGOWL) Nature-based sessions for adults struggling with mental or physical health challenges. Improved mental wellbeing, confidence, physical activity, and connection to others. Provided a supportive, stigma-free space for recovery and personal growth. Provided free outdoor clothing and shoes Outdoor Maths Sessions (in partnership with DGOWL) Delivered outdoor maths lessons within schools. Encouraged teachers and pupils to embrace outdoor learning as part of the curriculum. Improved engagement, confidence with numeracy, and connection to local nature. Promoted a regional culture of creative, outdoor education.
