Company activities and impact

Making Futures CIC operates with the 5 Ways to Wellbeing"as an underpinning principle of its activities. The company runs creative workshops for the benefit of the community with the object of enhancing wellbeing, self-confidence, self-esteem and mental health as well as addressing issues such as social isolation: - in addition to its workshop activities the company provides mentoring and business support to individuals looking to set up creative and similar enterprises. - the company is accredited to offer City and Guilds programmes in creative design and knitting via affiliation with an umbrella organisation that offers similar programmes. - Making Futures delivers sessions both in person and online using Zoom. This enables us to reach more people since some of our participants who would otherwise struggle to access in person events for a range of reasons (medical, disability, caring responsibilities, travel costs or simply distance and time to travel) can access our services this way. This has been evident, both from the number of participants taking part, from participant feedback and also from the consistently higher attendance rate at sessions. - as an area with a growing population of BAME families, with the support of a Trafford inclusive neighbourhoods grant our weekly craft social group brings together a wide range of individuals from the local community in Trafford and we attract a regular group drawn from a range of backgrounds. Our work with Oyez Arts and Full Circle Funeral Partners offers a valuable Creative Bereavement Group, supporting those who have experienced loss. - making Futures is a member of the Trafford Community Collective and actively supports their work and contributes to projects and programmes where appropriate. - trafford MBC is seeking to establish itself as a Social Enterprise Place. Making Futures is on the steering group for this process and is also a member of the Trafford Social Enterprise Network. - the company continues to provide mentoring and support to a range of women, a number of whom have gone on to develop or start new creatives businesses. The company has also been involved in partnering with a number of charities and non-profit organisations to provide enterprise support, inclusivity and creative wellbeing sessions.
