Lindfield Repair Cafe runs a monthly session, providing repairs and skill-sharing for the local community. We meet every month except August. Items that would otherwise be discarded or replaced are repaired by our volunteers who also give advice and guidance to the visitors. As part of the monthly sessions, we also run a cafe providing tea, coffee and homemade cakes to users and other visitors. The company reduces waste and improves skills; we promote community cohesion, providing a welcoming space for all. We co-operate with and promote other local groups with similar aims offering them space to interact with our visitors. All work is done on a voluntary basis, providing opportunities for local people to build their skills in repairing, social media, marketing publicity and running the cafe.
Our stakeholders are members of the local community who benefit from our service, as well as our volunteers. We consult by email with our volunteers, hold regular meetings and ask for feedback and suggestions at the monthly sessions. We have a lively social media presence through which we can interact with volunteers, the local community and other community organisations with similar aims. A small group acts as a committee and meets regularly to plan and to respond to feedback from volunteers and users.
