COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

EAST BRIDGFORD WILDLIFE AND BIODIVERSITY COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY

Company Number: 10059592 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 March 2025

Company activities and impact

EBWB CIC provides advice and information on biodiversity, wildlife habitats, nature conservation and nature recovery within East Bridgford Parish, neighbouring parishes and beyond. Specific endangered and threatened wildlife species supported by the CIC include badgers, hedgehogs, swifts, and orchids. We have provided hedgehog houses, swift boxes, bat boxes and martin cups in various locations around the village. EBWB CIC participates in implementation of the wildlife and environmental tasks identified in East Bridgford’s Community Plan, East Bridgford Parish Nature Conservation Strategy, and Springdale Wood Management Plan. We are proposing several wildlife sites for designation as statutory ‘Local Nature Reserves’ to provide them better legal protection. EBWB CIC is responsible for the management of Springdale Wood that was planted as one of 250 community woodlands in the UK to mark the Millennium. Onsite management of the wood is carried out by EBWB CIC and its volunteers from the local community. The CIC also organises wildlife talks and nature walks for the local community.

Consultation with stakeholders

Work parties off local residents are held in a local wood on one day every month from September to May at which the objectives of the CIC can be achieved and decide upon how to spend the money provided by donations. These aim to increase peoples awareness of the importance of a healthy and sustainable environment. Representatives of the CIC attend parish council meetings to discuss how to promote and protect the local environment. The CIC uses local social media outlets to inform and be alerted to wildlife and biodiversity issues with the local community.
