Company activities and impact

During the last year we have had 11079 people come and use our activities and services most of these people are local residents . In April we launched our new weekly programme which incorporated new sessions that had been asked for by local residents. We can respond quickly to requests as we have our own space and most of the sessions people want are easily facilitated at a very low or no cost. We have increased or walking groups to everyday, introduced a crochet group on a Tuesday and wellbeing sessions on a Monday Afternoon which include a menopause cafe once a month ,wellbeing sessions by community learning and other local providers and a social sessions. We offer the following Mondays Coffee and Chat Walking Group Stay and Play Wellbeing sessions Plus CAB twice a month Tuesdays Crochet Group Walking Group Art Group Wednesdays Exercise Group Walking Group Singalong Thursdays Breakfast club Warm or Cool Space Friendship Group Community Choir In addition to the activities we are open between 10-4pm for any residents to pop in for a chat and a cup of coffee and the foodbank. Over the Easter Holidays and May Half Term we ran Fit and Fed which resulted on us giving out 1056 Packed Lunches to children in the local area .This is also an opportunity for families to help for assistance either in way of additional food or in support for stress caused by the children being at home. We have seen a marked rise in the number of people needing to use the foodbank this does rise in the school holidays as we still have families that are above the Free School Meals threshold and find school holidays difficult. seeing more social workers coming in for food who are working in the area as they are able to access the food as they need it .The local Health Centre now have boxes available there as we food it was easier for them to provide food when patient are there then sending them down to us.This is a joint project we are running with them and we do provide with each box information about activities and support available at Juice We also held a Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Event which allowed members of the community to come along for a free health check and talk about ways to live a healthy life style. They were able to refer a number of people to their GP who where at risk in addition to these we have monthly visits from our local pharmacy who take peoples blood pressure and talk to them about the services they can offer. We link these visits with groups we already have running. As part of our warm and well provision we provided Christmas lunch for 22 people and also gave out 45 Christmas Food Hampers to local families and people who would be struggling over the Christmas period and 6 of these parcels went to Cadbury Heath Childrens Centre for new families they are working with. We have been working with the children’s centre since January on a project called Bumps to babies aimed at parents who are 6 months pregnant to 6 months baby. This group now has 10 regular mums and the support they are able to give each other has been great. All the mums are on maternity leave from their jobs and are returning to work later this year .We have also been able to get other organisations and services in to give information to the parents on a range of subjects. We had a request from some of our older people that they wanted to do some exercise so we started a seated football session for our older ladies this was a good way to engage them in a fun activity whilst helping them with their mobility and general physical health. Many of our older residents that attend the hub could not manage a full hour long exercise session that other places have on offer they need something that is around 10 to 15 minutes long which for gyms and commercial sessions is not cost effective. We have trialed for a month in March a pop up weekly shop that provides low cost fruit and vegetables and other household goods with the hope that people we think about what they eat and also how they spend their money. The trial was a success with upto 30 people attending each week and for some of our older residents who have very little access to fresh produce it has been a life changer

Consultation with stakeholders

As in previous years we have consulted with our local community on the activities and services that they wanted in their community.
