Inspiration For All matches school leaders and business leaders in unique peer-mentoring partnerships that create fresh perspectives, enhance leadership skills and drive social mo-bility. We give busy head and deputy head teachers much-needed one-to-one opportunities for profes-sional development. And we help business leaders have a tangible impact in schools through re-ciprocal, empathetic relationships with school leaders. Our Inspiring Partnerships widen outlooks and improve outcomes. Over nine monthly sessions, participants witness first-hand the value of leadership in different contexts. School leaders benefit from invaluable time and space to reflect on their leadership journey. And business leaders learn through gaining unique insights into teachers’ and students’ experiences. Together, our partnerships collaborate on common challenges from staff retention to strategic planning, delegation to stakeholder engagement, and accountability to work-life balance. We started our programme in pilot in February 2020 with our first full programme starting in October that year. During this accounting period we had 86 partnerships complete our programme, with school leaders from 71 schools across the most deprived postcodes in England. The completion rate for the seven cohorts was 89% and the satisfaction rate for those who completed was 91%. We target schools working in areas with high levels of poverty. This period has been particularly challenging for our schools and school leaders who have been dealing with the cost of living crisis and increasing behavioural and mental health issues. We know from research that great leadership delivers a two grade uplift at GCSE for young people. Leadership in schools serving the lowest income families is extremely important as education at school is often the only support that young people receive. Leadership in these schools is the most challenging as issues are more complex, and there is often the least support for developing leadership skills as resources are so stretched. The main criteria for selecting schools was the proportion of children who were entitled to free school meals, which is a key indicator of deprivation. The average proportion of free school meals across the schools was 40% and the national average is 24.6% (2024) so we are really targeting the areas that need it most. To understand the impact of the programme we hold an interview with around 20% of participants, and we have an end of programme survey completed by 60%+ of participants at the end of the programme. The data that covers the partnerships that completed the programme in the accounting period, from May 2024 to April 2025, shows that the programme had the intended impact. Headlines in-clude for school leaders: - 100% of school leaders valued the connection - 95% improved their leadership - 75% said it made them more likely to stay in their role On the business side: - 100% valued the connection - 90% improved their leadership - 98% are now active social mobility champions Our 2024 Impact Report is online here for more in depth feedback for those who completed the programme in 2024: https://inspirationforall.org.uk/userfiles/IFAImpactReport2024FinalWeb.pdf
Our main stakeholders are our participants, and then also our programme sponsors who provide the business leaders, and our partner local authorities and multi-academy trusts who promote the programme to their school leaders. For participants we have a pre survey, an end survey and an impact interview at the end of the programme. Response rates are very high – 68% of participants completed the survey and 38% attended a one to one interview. With our sponsors and partners we have regular meetings to discuss the progress the participants are making on the programme and to plan for the year ahead. In December 2022 we set up a Stakeholder Panel to advise us moving forward. The Panel is made up of stakeholders from across the programme, including representatives from our sponsors, as well as people who have no prior knowledge of the programme. The Panel met four times during the reporting period and are helping to steer the future direction of the programme.
