Year Ending: 31 March 2025

Company activities and impact

The Company’s Activities and Impact During the financial year, Sustainable Image Lab Trowbridge CIC delivered a range of community-focused creative and educational initiatives that advanced our mission to promote sustainable image-making practices and deepen public engagement with environmental themes in the arts. Our activities generated positive social, cultural and educational impact across Trowbridge and the wider region. 1. Creative and Educational Community Workshops We ran a programme of accessible community art and creative workshops centred on sustainable and low-impact image-making processes. These sessions enabled participants of all ages and backgrounds to develop new creative skills while gaining awareness of environmentally responsible artistic practices. By removing barriers to participation, we supported community wellbeing, confidence and creative expression. 2. A Hub for Critical Discourse on Art and the Environment Throughout the year, the Lab served as a vital local hub for conversations at the intersection of art, ecology and sustainability. Through talks, gatherings, and informal peer exchange, we fostered critical dialogue around environmental issues and encouraged artists and community members to consider the ecological implications of creative work. This strengthened local cultural literacy and helped build a more environmentally engaged artistic community. 3. Support for Artists and Creative Development We provided studio access and resources to artists developing new work using sustainable image-making techniques. By offering an inclusive and well-equipped creative space, we enabled artists to experiment, collaborate and build practices aligned with ecological awareness. This support contributed to the vibrancy and resilience of the local arts ecosystem. 4. Work Experience and Skills Development The organisation hosted a work-experience placement for a student, offering hands-on learning in sustainable image production, workshop facilitation, and community arts administration. This provided valuable professional exposure, skill-building opportunities and mentorship for the next generation of environmentally conscious creatives. 5. Public Exhibitions, Displays and Community Events We held exhibitions, displays, workshops and education sessions that showcased sustainable creative practices and invited public participation. These events increased community engagement with the arts, celebrated local creativity, and broadened public understanding of environmentally considerate approaches to visual culture.

Consultation with stakeholders

Consultation with Stakeholders During the financial year, Sustainable Image Lab Trowbridge CIC engaged regularly with stakeholders to ensure our activities responded to community needs and supported local creative and environmental priorities. 1. Community Participants We gathered ongoing informal feedback from workshop participants, exhibition visitors and attendees at learning sessions. This consultation helped us adjust programme content, accessibility and scheduling to better meet community interests and to refine our sustainable image-making activities. 2. Local Artists and Creative Practitioners As a working hub for artists, we maintained continuous dialogue with those using our space and taking part in our events. Their input shaped the development of our facilities, informed the types of workshops delivered, and guided decisions about exhibitions, peer-learning opportunities and sustainable practice resources. 3. Partner Organisations and Local Networks We informally consulted with local cultural organisations, community groups and environmental networks to ensure our work complemented wider arts and sustainability initiatives. These conversations allowed us to identify collaborative opportunities and align our programmes with regional cultural and ecological priorities. 4. Students and Educators Through the work-experience placement and our educational activities, we engaged with students and educators to understand what skills, knowledge and experiences would be most beneficial. Their feedback helped refine our learning offers and support young people exploring sustainable creative careers. 5. General Public and Local Community Informal discussions, event feedback, and open-studio interactions provided valuable insights into how our work supports the broader community. These consultations helped us ensure our activities were inclusive, relevant and welcoming to diverse audiences.
