To The Woods is a Community Interest Company operating an Outdoor Centre focused on providing nature-based learning and therapeutic activities in Cornwall. During the past year, the Centre’s activities have benefited the community in the following ways: Social & Emotional Well-being: By providing consistent forest school and bushcraft sessions, the Centre offers a vital, non-traditional setting that directly supports the mental and emotional health of young participants. This helps develop resilience, self-confidence, and a sense of accomplishment outside of the classroom environment. Educational Enrichment: The Centre has served as a key partner for local schools and after-school clubs, providing curriculum enrichment through hands-on environmental education. This activity promotes a deeper understanding of local wildlife and ecology that is not easily replicated in an indoor setting. Behavioral Support: Sessions focused on structured outdoor activities have been utilised by youth clubs and schools to aid in improving positive behavior through teamwork, problem-solving, and managing risk in a supportive natural environment. Accessible Outdoor Space: Through its focus on parent & child groups, the Centre provides an accessible and managed natural green space for local families. This resource is essential for promoting early childhood development, outdoor play, and parent-child bonding in a safe, structured setting. Support for Diverse Needs: By hosting specialist sessions, the Centre ensures that individuals with specific or complex needs have consistent access to the therapeutic and developmental benefits of nature, which might otherwise be inaccessible.
