The company’s activities and impact During the financial year, our company, OneWorld UnityBridge CIC, has continued to deliver services and initiatives that directly benefit the local community, particularly refugees and vulnerable groups in Stockport. Key activities and their impact include: 1. Community Integration Programs Hosted weekly storytelling and cultural exchange sessions to help refugees and new arrivals integrate into the community. Over 200 participants engaged, fostering social connections and reducing isolation. 2. Education and Skills Development Delivered ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes and workshops focused on employability skills. 75 participants improved their language proficiency and confidence, enhancing their access to employment and further education. 3. Health and Wellbeing Initiatives Organized fitness and wellness programs tailored for refugees and local residents. These sessions encouraged physical activity, mental wellbeing, and social interaction, reaching over 150 individuals. 4. Essential Support Services Operated food and clothes banks, distributing essential items to families in need. Provided financial empowerment sessions (ROSCA), enabling participants to manage resources effectively. 5. Partnership and Community Collaboration Worked in partnership with Stockport City of Sanctuary and local organisations to maximise support for vulnerable groups. Strengthened community networks and raised awareness about refugee needs within the wider population. Overall Impact: Through these activities, OneWorld UnityBridge CIC has fostered inclusion, enhanced skills, improved wellbeing, and directly supported hundreds of community members in Stockport. Our initiatives have strengthened social cohesion and provided meaningful opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Our stakeholders include refugees and new arrivals, volunteers, partner organisations such as Stockport City of Sanctuary, and local community members. Stakeholders have been consulted through feedback sessions during programs, surveys, informal discussions, and meetings with partner organisations. In response to feedback, we have: Adjusted ESOL class schedules and content to better meet participants’ needs Expanded food and clothes bank services Introduced wellness and fitness activities Strengthened partnerships to enhance support and resources for the community
