| Radio North Angus continued to operate efficiently throughout the year. There are four large media companies that own the vast majority of commercial radio stations in Britain. Economic factors have led to the centralisation of these stations resulting in the loss of a great amount of localness over the past 15 years, e.g. much of the output in Scotland is generated in Glasgow. There are a few stations that operate independently of which RNA is one, but is unique in maintaining a highly localised service from 5.30am to 2.00am the following day on FM, DAB, and online on entirely a voluntary basis. Rather than be profit-motivated, our remit is to provide support to the community by promoting statutory and voluntary organisations to achieve their goals whilst assisting businesses by offering the lowest rate of adverising in commercial radio. However, we are facing challenges in the forthcoming year. Over the past two years we have lost some presenters owing to two passing away, and others leaving due to ill health or family commitments. Accordingly, we are currently holding a recruitment campaign to attract prospective presenters. We have been obliged to transfer our Monifieth transmitter from the original High School, which is due for demoliation, to Seaview Primary and to bear the cost. Our commercial radio licence is due for renewal for a 12 year period at a fee of £15,000, for turnover in the region of £7,000 per annum. RNA had provided music, commentary, and public address equipment at a number of events across the county, and talks had been given to various groups. Programming was mantained at a satisfactory level along with financial stability. In conclusion, I wish to record grateful appreciation to the NHS and Angus Council, and to advertisers, business concerns, organisations, individuals, and the RNA volunteers for support throughout the financial year 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025. |

| Independent Examiner's Report to the directors of Radio North Angus Limited on the | ||||
| accounts of the company and notes to the accounts for the year ended 31 March 2025 | ||||
| set out in pages 5 to 8. | ||||
| Respective Responsibilities of the Directors and Examiner | ||||
| The Company’s Directors are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the terms of the Companies Act 2006, the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) 2005 Act and the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. The Directors consider that the audit requirement of Regulation 10(1) (a) to (c) of the Accounts Regulations does not apply. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts as required under section 44(1) (c) of the Act and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. | ||||
| Basis of Independent Examiner's Statement | ||||
| My examination is carried out in accordance with Regulation 11 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the company and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeks explanations from the Directors concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently, I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts. | ||||
| Independent Examiner’s Statement | ||||
| In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention. 1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements: - to keep accounting records in accordance with section 44(1) (a) of the 2005 Act and Regulation 4 of the 2006 Account Regulations, and - to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with Regulation 9 of the 2006 Accounts Regulations have not been met or 2. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. |
