COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

KINDER CROFT CIC

Company Number: SC625717 (Scotland)

Year Ending: 31 March 2025

Company activities and impact

Kinder Croft CIC’s principal activity during the year has been the provision of funded childcare in a fully outdoor setting for children aged 3–5 from the local area, operating as a partner provider for Highland Council. The organisation continues to provide essential childcare to the local community. The outdoor nursery environment supports children’s physical development, confidence, independence, and engagement with the natural environment, contributing positively to their wellbeing and learning. The company currently employs 8 staff members, of whom 3 are full-time. All staff are paid above the Living Wage.

Consultation with stakeholders

The primary stakeholders of Kinder Croft CIC are the children attending the nursery and their parents/carers. Children are consulted on an ongoing basis through child-led practice, with their interests and needs informing daily activities and care. Parents and carers are engaged through regular communication with practitioners and through an annual feedback survey. The survey is used to gather views on the quality of provision and identify areas for improvement. Feedback received has informed service improvements and helped shape the ongoing development of the nursery. There has been no formal public consultation during the year; however, regular engagement with families ensures the service continues to respond to stakeholder needs. Kinder Croft CIC also provides care for children up to 7 years old as part of a flexi-schooling arrangement. This provision was introduced following a wider community consultation led by a parent group, which identified a local need for additional childcare.
