It has been another year of steady progress for the organisation, with our principal client being Sikh Womens Aid SWA, a specialist charity supporting South Asian women and children affected by domestic abuse and harmful practices. During the course of the year, we have focused extensively on supporting the consolidation of back office systems, strengthening governance frameworks, and building organisational infrastructure to support SWAs significant growth trajectory. This has included developing robust financial management processes, reviewing and updating key policies, and supporting the charitys preparations for operating at a substantially larger scale. A particular highlight has been our success in securing over 87000 worth of funding through grant applications and funding proposals. This income generation work has helped to diversify SWAs funding base and contribute to the charitys financial sustainability. We have also provided strategic support around workforce development, including developing comprehensive recruitment materials and processes for key leadership positions as the organisation expands its capacity to meet growing demand for its services. Due to resourcing constraints, we have taken the decision to decline other work opportunities during this period. This has allowed us to maintain the quality and depth of support provided to our principal client, rather than spreading capacity too thinly across multiple projects. We anticipate reviewing this position in the coming year as we consider the future direction and scale of our consultancy activities.
The companys primary stakeholders are Sikh Womens Aid SWA our principal client organisation SWAs Board of Trustees with whom we work closely on governance and strategic matters SWAs staff team who we support through systems development and capacity building The women and children who access SWAs services the ultimate beneficiaries of our work Consultation with stakeholders has been ongoing throughout the year through regular meetings with the SWA CEO and senior leadership team attendance at Board meetings and informal dialogue as part of our embedded support relationship. This close working arrangement ensures that our activities remain responsive to the organisations evolving needs and priorities. In response to stakeholder feedback we have Prioritised the consolidation of back office systems to address identified operational pressures Focused funding applications on areas of greatest strategic need as identified by the Board Supported SWAs research activities including contributing to the development and production of their third publication Gender Power and Abuse Examining Domestic Sexual and Spiritual Violence in the Sikh Panjabi Community Sikh Womens Aid. The report was launched at the Sikh Womens Aid conference held at the Tally Ho Conference and Banqueting Centre in Edgbaston Birmingham on 6 December 2024. End The Fear with 675 Sikh Panjabi women as its primary focus the biannual survey combines quantitative and qualitative data to examine abuse experiences across demographics Womensgrid. This years research included a specific focus on spiritual and faith based abuse responding to increased reporting of these issues to SWAs national helpline. The report provides vital evidence to inform policy and practice across the sector amplifying the voices of survivors and making urgent recommendations for systemic change. This collaborative approach ensures that our consultancy activities remain aligned with stakeholder priorities and contribute meaningfully to SWAs mission of supporting South Asian women and children affected by domestic abuse and harmful practices.
