COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

WILD LIFE SUSSEX COAST CIC

Company Number: 14671216 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 March 2025

Company activities and impact

The company benefits the local community by improving well-being, encouraging people of all ages to get active and be sociable whilst increasing environmental awareness and their connection with nature. The company ran an educational beach school during the summer holidays, providing childcare whilst continuing and diversifying the children's learning journey through the school holidays. For people of all ages, there were free Nature Connection Events. The sessions are varied and provide employment opportunities for local people to share their expert knowledge and skills. The events included but were not limited to: Walking for Wellbeing, Painting En Plain Air, Foraging Walks, Breathing, Yoga and Meditation Sessions.

Consultation with stakeholders

We request feedback and reviews from our children and adults during and after the sessions. Which has been incredibly positive! We have made continuous adjustments to our events program and sessions structure based on that feedback and ideas. We have been active in gaining support from local stakeholders; from individuals, to businesses to local authorities. We had funding from the Mayor to provide free and discounted spaces for children on Free School Meals scheme or within single parent families. We also engaged with the wider community to educate local people about the beach environment funded by Rother District Council. The Team - directors and beach leaders- have discussed challenges faced by the poor weather last summer and the impact of cancelling sessions to which we are searching for back up locations to host the sessions. The teams feedback and that of the other session hosts has been taken on board to improved reliability of events in the future and to provide a more resilient income system.
