Principal activities of the company

The principal activities of Gentle Us CIC during the financial year were the delivery of creative, educational and wellbeing-focused programmes using photography, filmmaking and visual storytelling. The company worked with under-represented communities, including young adults aged 18–30, to increase access to the creative industries, support wellbeing, and strengthen skills, confidence and progression. Gentle Us CIC also worked in partnership with cultural institutions, social enterprises and industry organisations to deliver workshops, co-create visual assets, and support organisations to communicate their impact and raise funding. Income generated through trading and commissioned work was reinvested into community programmes in line with the company’s community interest objectives.

Company activities and impact

Gentle Us CIC runs creative and wellbeing-focused programmes using photography, filmmaking and visual storytelling to support under-represented communities and increase access to the creative industries. During the financial year, Gentle Us CIC’s activities have benefited the community in the following ways: young adults aged 18–30 and other under-represented community members have been able to access free or low-cost photography and filmmaking workshops, creative wellbeing and social prescribing sessions, supporting improved confidence, skills development and mental wellbeing 10 students have taken part in structured creative programmes, of whom 4 went on to purchase their own cameras, several accessed shadow-at-work opportunities, and 1 secured paid employment within the creative sector participants have gained access to professional creative environments and equipment through workshops delivered in partnership with cultural and industry organisations, including sessions delivered with the Horniman Museum and Gardens and a large-scale workshop with Sigma during London Fashion Week, attended by approximately 30–40 people social enterprises and community organisations operating across Camden, North London and beyond have been supported to communicate their impact and raise funding through the co-creation of explainer videos and visual assets, delivered in partnership with Holding Your Online Hand community-led social impact work has been documented in partnership with Ben & Jerry’s, highlighting the contribution of marginalised groups and supporting wider awareness of inclusive economic participation partnerships with industry organisations including Adobe, Sigma and Virgin Media, including the receipt of an Adobe award, have increased access to industry networks, skills and opportunities for participants, while income generated through trading activity has been reinvested into community programmes in line with Gentle Us CIC’s community interest objectives

Consultation with stakeholders

The company’s stakeholders are young adults aged 18–30, under-represented community members, social enterprises, cultural institutions, and industry partners operating across Lewisham, Camden, North London and beyond. The directors of Gentle Us CIC have long-standing experience working within community, creative and wellbeing settings, and developed the organisation’s programmes based on ongoing conversations with participants, community partners and local organisations. Gentle Us CIC consults with stakeholders before, during and after delivery of its activities. Participants are invited to share feedback through group discussions, informal check-ins and post-session reflections, which has helped shape workshop content, accessibility, pacing and levels of support. This consultation has informed decisions around small group delivery, skills progression, and confidence-building approaches. Partner organisations and social enterprises are consulted through planning meetings and collaborative development sessions, particularly when co-creating explainer videos, visual assets or workshops. This ensures that activities respond directly to organisational needs, funding requirements and community priorities. Ongoing dialogue with partners and participants continues to inform programme development and partnership working, ensuring activities remain relevant and aligned with the company’s community interest objectives.
