Company activities and impact

Activities of the Community Interest Company Freed Up CIC was incorporated on 14 August 2023. Due to organisational set-up, planning, and partnership development, the company did not begin delivering activities until March 2024. From March 2024 onwards, Freed Up CIC delivered a programme of sober, recovery-focused cultural and community events designed to promote wellbeing, inclusion, and positive social connection. During the reporting period, activities included: Delivery of six sober events, including comedy nights and sober raves, providing safe and substance-free social spaces Delivery of the annual Govan Music Festival event, in partnership with the Glasgow Barons and other community partners Delivery of two community events in the East End of Glasgow, in partnership with Bluevale Charity and other local organisations Delivery of one community event in Perth, in partnership with the Salvation Army and additional local organisations Arrangement and delivery of a block of DJ workshops, aimed at skill development, confidence building, and creative expression All activities were designed to be inclusive, accessible, and supportive of individuals in recovery and those seeking sober social alternatives. Beneficiaries of the CIC’s Activities The primary beneficiaries of Freed Up CIC’s activities are individuals in recovery from addiction, people choosing sobriety, and those affected by social exclusion or isolation. Secondary beneficiaries include: Local artists and creative practitioners Community organisations and partners The wider community, through increased access to inclusive cultural events and reduced stigma around addiction and recovery

Steps Taken to Ensure Activities Benefit the Community The directors ensured that activities benefited the community by: Designing activities in consultation with people in recovery and community partners Delivering events in partnership with established local organisations Keeping events affordable or free to attend Providing substance-free environments that prioritised safety, inclusion, and wellbeing Gathering informal feedback from participants and partners to inform future activities How the CIC’s Activities Benefit the Community Freed Up CIC benefits the community by: Providing safe, sober environments for socialising and cultural participation Supporting recovery, wellbeing, and positive mental health Reducing stigma around addiction through visible, positive community events Increasing access to creative opportunities for people who may otherwise be excluded Strengthening community connections through partnership working and local engagement The CIC’s work contributes to healthier communities by offering alternatives to alcohol-centred social spaces and supporting long-term recovery and resilience.

Directors' remuneration

The total amount paid or receivable by directors in respect of qualifying services (Project Manager) was £14,060 There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
