  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, net of discounts and value added taxes. Turnover includes donation and grant

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

    Tangible fixed assets are measured at cost less accumulative depreciation and any accumulative impairment losses. Depreciation is provided on all tangible fixed assets, other than free hold land, at rates calculated to write off the cost, less estimated residual value, of each asset evenly over its expected useful life, as follows: Fixtures, fittings, tools and equipment 20% reducing balance basis

    Valuation information and policy

    Short term creditors are measured at transaction price(which is usually the invoice price). Loans and other financial liabilities are initially recognised at transaction price net of any transaction costs and subsequently measured at a mortised cost determined using the effective interest method.

Company activities and impact

Transforming Lives Projects CIC offers Drop-in sessions for initial assessment to ascertain levels of need and areas that needs training and mentoring support to bridge the gap. During the financial starting 1st April 2024 ending 31 March 2023ear, e continued to operate a minimized small scale service delivery programme opening for business 2 days a week running one--to-one information, guidance and advice support from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Wednesdays, Fridays Local services users, particularly small numbers of Refugees, Single mothers and the unemployed young people NEET’s were given access to come in and use our computers to check emails, job search and hospital appointment. The drop in facilities helped to minimise pet shoplifting crime and the creating of space for users to interact and break cultural barriers 49 individuals from different postcode gained social skills and 15 participants with no internet access at home gained access to free internet saved on household heating bill

Consultation with stakeholders

The company’s stakeholders are vulnerable unemployed Newham local residents dependent's universal credit state benefit Majority of them are of African and Asian background origin especially women grow up within a context of familial conflict: with clashes between family expectations, honor and duty, while growing up within a western society that generally offers higher levels of aspirations and opportunities for young women. Half of Transforming Lives Projects CIC directors have lived in the area for years and are well knowledgeable with local issues and challenges affecting stakeholders Additionally, research points to high levels of hidden domestic violence within the Asian community, with often very limited outlets for young women to voice their concerns, and the impact that violence within the family home has on them. The drop-in center derived from feedbacks collected from 25 local single mothers 12 young people NEET's consulted through word of mouth informal focus groups discussion forum meetings and feedback questionnaires collected Lack of awareness, Cultural barriers, English communication barriers, Social isolation tendencies, Domestic and other forms of abuse, psychological tremors etc
