Company activities and impact

Reading Hongkongers CIC aims at building a strong mutual support networks during the integration to the UK among Hong Kongers settling in Greater Reading areas. We hope to create a mutually respectful and diverse community that leads to a better social cohesion; and preserve and promote Hong Kong culture. During the fiscal year 2024-2025, our company undertook the following initiatives: 1. Building a Social Network: We aim to establish a vibrant social network through regular events such as coffee mornings, monthly community gatherings, and self-care workshops focused on well-being. Additionally, we will create a "Golden Group" for seniors over 60 and host board game nights and mindful soft pastel workshops. This consistent engagement will strengthen our presence and foster trust and connections within the Hong Kong community. 2. Collaboration with Local Organizations: We will partner with Hong Konger-led organizations to expand our service reach and engage more community members. Collaborative activities may include learning Cantonese and cultural events for children, CBT mental health workshop, as well as board game nights. We also 3. Support from National Organizations: We have received support from national entities in the UK, such as the British Science Association, to initiate various projects that serve the Hong Kong community. These initiatives include developing a community garden project to grow oriental crops, which will help preserve Hong Konger identity and facilitate cultural exchange. 4. Engagement with Local Authorities: We will liaise with local authorities and borough councils to develop projects that provide Hong Kongers with valuable information and resources for integration within the community. 5. Cultural Awareness Initiatives: Through various modalities, we aim to showcase the culture and history of Hong Kong, enhancing local understanding and appreciation of our heritage. For example. Joining the celebration of Lunar New in town level represented that the Hong Konger community is the part of community to share the festival joy.

Stakeholders meetings: hosting regular or ad-hoc meetings with key stakeholders to discuss current and future plans, address concerns, and seek input on important decisions 3. Online platform: creating online platform such as social media groups where stakeholders can share ideas, provide feedback, and interact with each other and the company’s personnel. 4. Partnership and collaborations: collaborating with other organizations or community groups to ensure broader stakeholder engagement and representation. 5. Accessibility measures: Ensuring that consultation processes are inclusive and accessible to all stakeholders, including those with disabilities or language barriers
