COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

BRISTOL GIRLS SURF CLUB CIC

Company Number: 15611357 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 April 2025

Company activities and impact

We have provided a mixture of community social events in Bristol, as well as subsidized opportunities for women to attend our day, weekend, and international trips to local beaches and further afield where we have worked to create a sense of community and combat social isolation. Surfing is often an intimidating and historically male dominated sport, so we have worked to break down these barriers and redress the gender balance in the sport of Surfing, while make it more accessible and welcoming to those who are new to the sport. We are conscious of the significant mental health benefits being in the sea, and being out in nature can provide, which is not something that is readily accessible in an urban environment. By organising trips to the beach, as well as The Wave we have given as many women as possible the opportunity to experience the positive mental health benefits out being out in nature, whilst also being supported by a welcoming and inclusive community. We have provided women with access to sport and nature in a safe, inclusive and fun environment. We have worked with small local brands and professionals in Bristol to collaborate, which helps to increase community connection and awareness, whilst also supporting the small business economy in Bristol.
