General information

The National Solicitors Network Limited is a Limited Liability Company incorporated in England and Wales. The registered office address is Harwood House, 43 Harwood Road, London, SW6 4QP.

The principal activity of the company continued to be the provision of solicitor support services.

2.Accounting policies

2.1

Basis of preparation of financial statements

The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention unless otherwise specified within these accounting policies and in accordance with Section 1A of Financial Reporting Standard 102, the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and the Republic of Ireland and the Companies Act 2006.

The following principal accounting policies have been applied:

2.2

Going concern

The financial statements have been prepared on the going concern basis which presumes the company will continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future.
The company reported a profit of £11,290 but had significant net liabiliies at the year end. The balance sheet deficit is arrived at after amounts (including preference shares) of £1,394,257 owed to directors and parties connected with them who will not withdraw their financial support until the company's position stengthens.
In view of the above and after taking into consideration all other information that might resonably be expected to be avaialble, the directors are of the opinion that the company will continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future and the going concern basis of preparation is therefore applicable to the preparation of the financial statement

2.3

2.Accounting policies (continued)

2.4

Intangible assets

Goodwill
Goodwill is the difference between amounts paid on the acquisition of a business and the fair value of the identifiable assets and liabilities. It is amortised to the Profit and Loss Account over its estimated economic life.
Rates of amortisation are specific to each aquisition and are detailed in note 5 to the financial statements.
Brands
Brands are valued at cost less accumulated amortisation.  Amortisation is calculated to write off the cost in equal annual instalments over their estimated useful lives.

2.5

Tangible fixed assets

Tangible fixed assets under the cost model are stated at historical cost less accumulated depreciation and any accumulated impairment losses. Historical cost includes expenditure that is directly attributable to bringing the asset to the location and condition necessary for it to be capable of operating in the manner intended by management.

Depreciation is charged so as to allocate the cost of assets less their residual value over their estimated useful lives, on a reducing balance basis.

Depreciation is provided on the following basis:

Office equipment
-
25% on written down value

The assets' residual values, useful lives and depreciation methods are reviewed, and adjusted prospectively if appropriate, or if there is an indication of a significant change since the last reporting date.

Gains and losses on disposals are determined by comparing the proceeds with the carrying amount and are recognised in profit or loss.

2.6

Valuation of investments

Investments in subsidiaries are measured at cost less accumulated impairment.

2.7

Debtors

Short-term debtors are measured at transaction price, less any impairment. Loans receivable are measured initially at fair value, net of transaction costs, and are measured subsequently at amortised cost using the effective interest method, less any impairment.

Cash equivalents are highly liquid investments that mature in no more than three months from the date of acquisition and that are readily convertible to known amounts of cash with insignificant risk of change in value.

2.9

Financial instruments

The Company only enters into basic financial instrument transactions that result in the recognition of financial assets and liabilities like trade and other debtors and creditors, loans from banks and other third parties, loans to related parties and investments in ordinary shares.

2.10
