COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

REVIVAL (THE LIVING ROOM) COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY

Company Number: 06611733 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 March 2025

Company activities and impact

The company operates a single charity shop reselling donated goods, following the merger of two shops in August 2023. Profits from these sales are transferred to The Living Room charity, to which Revival (The Living Room) CIC is asset locked. During the year, individuals supported by The Living Room, who are abstinent and in recovery from addictions, gained valuable skills and volunteering experience through roles at Revival. Family members and carers supported by The Living Room also engaged as customers and advocates of the shop and the services it funds. In addition, members of the wider community, including unemployed individuals, volunteered at Revival and developed retail experience. We currently employ five staff members, most of whom began their careers as volunteers. The shop provides an important recycling facility for clothing, toys, and small household items, reducing landfill waste. It offers affordable goods, enabling people on low incomes to purchase essential items such as school uniforms. We have also donated sleeping bags, linens, blankets, and smaller-sized adult clothing to other charities supporting homeless people and refugees.

Consultation with stakeholders

Stakeholders include staff, directors, The Living Room trustees, volunteers, the police, neighbouring shop owners, schools and customers. They are consulted on changes to store layout, encouraged to donate goods and time, and involved in discussions about local community events and initiatives to support young people and reduce crime in the area. Feedback is also gathered through our social media channels. In August 2023 we expanded our main shop to incorporate stock from our former children’s shop. Customer, staff and volunteer feedback played a key role in planning this project. As a result, we improved accessibility for wheelchair and buggy users who previously faced challenges entering the shop. The new combined family shop provides a more convenient shopping experience by offering everything in one location. The financial benefits of this merger allow us to keep prices lower than the average charity shop of our size.
