Balance sheet statements

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, excluding discounts, rebates, value added tax and other sales taxes.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

    Depreciation is provided at the following annual rates in order to write off each asset over its estimated useful life Plant and machinery at 20% on cost.

    Other accounting policies

    Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet date. Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognised in financial statements. Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the year end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference. Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits.

Company activities and impact

In the space provided below, please insert a general account of the company’s activities in the financial year to which the report relates, including a description of how they have benefited the community. Cracking Good Foods mission to alleviate food, fuel and kitchen kit poverty across and outside of Greater Manchester and beyond has continued to be a resource which community organisations who support low income families, children at risk of holiday hunger, people living with drug and substance abuse, people living in social isolation and many other communities living in crisis and experiencing financial hardship. They have all benefitted from attending our full and part participatory cooking classes where we boost confidence, build on knowledge and equip with the skills to healthy and nutritious affordable food from scratch through the support of our experienced team and volunteers. Much of our work focusses on affordable, low fuel cooking workshops and demonstrations to help people maintain a healthy and nutritious diet, within a seasonal and sustainable agenda. Our work has extended to supporting and training communities to become work ready through our 30hr ‘Feeding Your Future’ training, upskilling and mentorship programme. Our work also sees us supporting communities who not only experience food and fuel poverty, but also do not have the cooking equipment to make the most basic meals. We operate a campaign of procuring donated pre-loved kitchen kit to avoid items going to landfill and reach underserved communities.

Consultation with stakeholders

Post session and annual delivery surveys to raise concerns, suggested improvements, issues encountered; an opportunity to feedback as close to real-time delivery as possible. Includes case studies to drill down to granular detail about the volunteers and motivation to support our organisations’ mission, to capturing more about their personal circumstances and how their involvement has impacted on their lives Our surveys are tailored to match different projects e.g. Kitchen Kit, cooking workshops, growing food, delivering meals Ascertain data specific to the health issues and protected characteristics of the groups we will deliver to, gain understanding of the anticipated legacy and implementation of our deliver, includes data relating to the geographical landscape in respect of retailers, growing projects, and transport. Consultation to discuss the shaping of a new project or service as the consultant holds greater knowledge about the beneficiaries. Baseline, mid project, end of project surveys, and 6 week post intervention surveys to ascertain behavioural and dietary changes includes video and voice recordings also provide a platform to capture feedback. Check in calls to ensure the dishes are meeting their dietary and personal taste, which unofficially act as welfare calls enabling us to feedback to the referral agency should concerns arise. Survey undertaken by final year medical students to understand impact and capture feedback. Post session feedback to share issues encountered and identify developments needing to be considered for implementation. Representation on GM food and social boards to help us continually understand the food, fuel and social hardships communities at grass route levels encounter.
