COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

GRASSROOTS POWER CIC

Company Number: 10059430 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 March 2025

Company activities and impact

This company offers services and support to community sports clubs and sports governing bodies at local and national level. The services offered by Grassroots Power CIC are specifically designed to support community sports clubs in becoming financially and environmentally sustainable enabling them to improve and maintain their facilities, develop their links with the local community and where possible to create job opportunities within GRP and sport in general for local ex-service personnel or those who are considered deprived or excluded from society. Grassroots Power CIC was launched in March 2016 and during the financial year 2024/2025, the company’s activities have benefitted the community in the following ways: Provided subsidised light level testing services (required bi-annually by The FA from community football clubs to allow them to play football under floodlights) to all community sports clubs in Partnership League making this service affordable and accessible and relieving some of the financial burden on community sports clubs in the South West. Provided advice, support and grant funding services to community sports clubs who needed to upgrade their sports facilities but did not have the financial capacity to achieve this without additional funds. Grassroots Power’s funding team helped these clubs access available grant funds to enable essential works and improvements to be undertaken which as increased participation in sports within this communities A pilot was launched offering affordable maintenance services to community sports clubs enabling them to undertake necessary repairs to ensure the safety, wellbeing and enjoyment of their community members. The technical maintenance and services needed to deliver this work has been provided by Grassroots Power CIC via our connections with suitably qualified ex-services personnel. This pilot has proved successful and there are now plans in place to expand and further develop these services. During 2025 the company is now partnering with the FA and further extending our support for football clubs in the community.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company’s stakeholders at this time are the community sports clubs, local and national governing bodies within sport and the local schools that we are working with across the UK. All our stakeholders are focussed on improving facilities and increasing community participation within sport. When we start working with any stakeholder we meet with them to discuss their needs, their objectives within their community and to explore where there are potential opportunities for us to develop our proposition. We are always talking to our stakeholders and proactively looking for opportunities to understand their needs and how we can expand/improve our services to better meet their needs and the needs of the wider community, we do this via a number of initiatives: We speak to and ultimately meet every club that we work with which enables us to understand their club, their challenges and what is important within their community because the people that we meet are from that community. This enables us to continually review and develop new products and services which benefit sport and the community in general. Attending board/committee meetings to listen and understand the challenges being faced by that club and community via their membership. Upon completion of any job we specifically ask for feedback on how we performed. This is followed-up with a call to ensure we continue to improve and develop. Feedback from our stakeholders has proved invaluable for us as a business, it has led to the development of 2 specific services over this past year, both of which have been very successful. We are looking as some other opportunities for stakeholder engagement going forward which will enable us to build on this success. We see the engagement of our stakeholders as critical the ongoing development of the Grassroots Power CIC business model.
