We hosted a weekly walking group on Mondays, attracting over 360 members. This initiative encouraged participants to engage in gentle exercise while enjoying nature and meeting new people through walking and conversation. Every first Tuesday of the month, we facilitated a Diabetes Support Group for pre-diabetic individuals, those with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, and anyone supporting a loved one living with diabetes. We invited diabetic nurses, podiatrists, dieticians, and other specialists to educate and inspire attendees on how to live well with diabetes, reduce their HbA1c levels, and potentially achieve remission. Throughout the year, we supported over 120 individuals in this initiative. We worked in partnership with Mabadiliko and the Health Equity Fellow of The Lewisham Health Care Partnership (TLCP) to co-design and facilitate a Community Diabetes Group Clinic Consultation project, where we advertised for patients from TLCP who were pre-diabetic or Type 2 Diabetes to be part of the project and we had 50+ members who attended the 6 month project and the outcome was fantastic. Some had reversed back into pre-diabetic status or reduced their numbers eg: HBA1C, BP, Cholesterol etc. In addition, we organised various community health awareness events and the Health and Wellbeing Expo, where participants had access to valuable resources and services. Supported by NHS South East London, this event inspired attendees to take proactive steps towards their health, including scheduling breast and prostate screenings to highlight the importance of maintaining their well-being. Our collaborations with NHS South East London, the London Borough of Lewisham, and other local organisations have been crucial in enhancing our programs and expanding our impact in the community.
This year, we worked closely with key stakeholders, including NHS South East London, the London Borough of Lewisham and other organisations, to empower and support our community through innovative programmes and collaborative partnerships. By leveraging these valuable perspectives, we created more inclusive and impactful services, strengthening our mission to serve and support the community effectively.
