Liverpool Social Care Partnership was set up to benefit the community by enhancing the quality of social care services through workforce development and recruitment; dissemination of best practice in social care - which increasingly includes assisting with the transition to digital recording systems and cybersecurity, and contributing the expertise of its’ professionally experienced personnel as needed, whether informally via the telephone or more formally as a period of Consultancy( to 2 organisations in the period). a) Training: We have provided free and subsidised training to our partner organisations in order to drive up social care standards We have continued to deliver the CACHE/NCFE Level 1 Award and Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care, in partnership with Liverpool City Council and Liverpool in Work. We have worked closely with Halton Borough Council to deliver Safeguarding Training to practitioners, managers( delivered to 202 employees) and to their voluntary/ private sectors through the Halton Safeguarding Adults Board who also commission training in Financial Abuse, Self Neglect and Provider led Concerns ( total delivery to 224 provider professionals) For Sefton Borough Council we have delivered Dementia, Diabetes, Supervision and Assisting and Handling training (70 people) b) Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT): As part of the “Better Security Better Care Programme” in partnership with the NHS, we have been promoting the DSPT in the North West (around 2,500 organisations). This is a tool which helps social care providers to be cyber safe, leading up to the government target of 2030, when social care records/transactions will become digital. This programme includes online training in: Introducing the Toolkit, Information and/or Digital, Policies and Procedures, Data Security and IT Security and Devices (Rolling programme, of around 400 sessions over the year, attended by 2-10 people per session with an approximate total of 2000 people who attended). Start of programme in the Northwest approximately 34% were signed up to DSPT now 77% in 3 years, with growth in 24/25 being around16%. As an incentive for completing DSPT we offer a free online “ Cyber Security Awareness” session, for all the staff, of compliant organisations within 3 months of their achievement (the Government standard is 85% of staff should have attended Cyber Security Awareness Training). This has proved very popular. In addition we offer one to one support where our staff members will visit those organisations who are struggling to complete the tool kit (take up was 23 organisations in the accounting period) c) Recruitment Events: We hosted 7 events during the year, with the attendance of between 8 and 30 employers, and an average of 60 candidates for employment at each event( total candidates 399) The aim is to address the chronic shortage of staff within the sector. We have found that recruitment events often attract people who would not necessarily approach job centres or look online for vacancies. d) Information: We disseminate information gleaned from research and our contacts with partners to our members. This maybe in relation to changes in legislation, current good practice, resource availability ( grant opportunities, expertise availability by local/national companies etc.) We do this through Partnership meetings, e newsletters and mailshots to our wider network relating to the Social Care Digitisation Agenda In addition, we increasingly, are unofficial “Gate Keepers” for our local Social Services Department as we get multiple calls each day which we need to redirect(4 - 8 calls per day). Part 1 IMPACT a) Training: Themed Training (free or heavily subsidised) No. of sessions: 35 No. of attendees 153 Condition, Good Practice or Management sessions. No. of sessions: 38 No. of attendees: 179 Preparing to work in Adult Social Care L1 and L2. No. of candidates 80 Outcomes: Employment 45(57%). Progress to Further education 27(33%), Other 8(10%). Ethnic Origin: Black/ African 63 (79%) Black/ other 1 (1.25%) White/ British 6 (7.5%) White/ other 4 (5%) Mixed/ other 1 (1.25%) Asian/ Indian 1 (1.25%) Asian/ Pakistani 1 (1.35%) Asian/ other 3 (3.5%) In summary, impact of this training is that 332 current practitioners have improved their knowledge and/or skills, while the social care workforce has gained 45 people ready for work in the sector and 27 others are enhancing their employability by seeking further education.
