FP RAFT CIC is in the Ribbleton Ward of Preston (PR1) which is categorised as one of the most deprived areas of England. Our focus is to ensure that our disadvantaged community have access to a wide variety of opportunities that wouldn’t otherwise be available to them. The company runs a food club, a youth club, a later life hub, breakfast cafe, over 50’s friendship club, youth club, provides a safe warm space and provides regular engagement programmes around health and wellbeing, hygiene poverty, the reduction of isolation and loneliness and the reduction of crime and anti-social behaviour. One of our key successes in the 2024/2025 financial year has been our FP RAFT CIC Youth Hub for 11 to 18 year old youths. Our priority has been to strive to make early interventions with our youth to maintain their morale and good behaviour and reduce anti-social behaviour in the Farringdon Park and surrounding local area. Early intervention helps stop youths becoming involved in crime by helping to address their unmet needs and vulnerabilities, reduces peer pressure and promotes positive outcomes. We are discouraging a gang culture from developing by providing positive opportunities within a safe community centre for the youths to participate in. Our aim is to prevent youths from becoming involved in aggressive groups, take them away from a drink and drug culture developing in many communities and therefore reduce the amount of criminal activity such as bullying, graffiti, acts of violence and damage to vehicles and property. So far we have provided 301 hours of activities for our youth hub group. We have promoted the youth hub to over 750 households On average we have 18 youth attending each session In total we have had 1,853 youths attending these sessions We have provided 273 hours of work for our FP RAFT CIC Directors We have provided 446 hours of work for our volunteers We have allocated 39 hours of work to youth volunteers as part of their Duke of Edinburgh awards
FP RAFT CIC stakeholders include residents from over 750 local households, Gateway Housing Association, Brockholes Wood Primary School, Lancashire County Council, Preston City Council, Lancashire Constabulary and several medium/small local businesses. Our focus on consultation with stakeholders in the 2024/2025 financial year has been around both our food club and our later life hub. We have held regular monthly open meetings with our residents and stakeholders as a minimum. We asked our elderly residents to set up their own steering group for the later life hub and they started by developing a delivering an FP RAFT CIC questionnaire to 750 households. In meetings we outlined what we wanted to achieve through our later life hub project and asked for feedback. We did this face to face with over 200 residents in attendance and a further 350 hits on our Facebook social media site. The FP RAFT CIC steering group agreed project aims on behalf of the stakeholders. 20 residents came forward to volunteer and help deliver project activities. Feedback received was for FP RAFT CIC to adapt and expand what we currently delivered for our over 50’s friendship club. As a result a number of elderly technical gentlemen organised a cinema club. Our eldest member (age 85 years) organised afternoon tea parties. The resident steering group took the lead in delivering our regular Arts & Craft sessions to mainly elderly disabled residents. Additionally, following feedback about our food club, we created a team of volunteers willing to deliver food parcels to local residents too poorly to come to the community centre. FP RAFT CIC has a communications strategy and utilises a variety of methods to keep the community up to date with what is happening and what is available via the community centre. This includes regular face to face meetings in the community centre, use of our Facebook Group Page, community events, delivering leaflets to over 750 households, use of noticeboards, and actively engaging with stakeholder feedback
