In 2024, Wheel Good Vibes CIC continued its mission to spread joy and positivity through cycling: 1. Community Cycle Rides Our volunteer ride leaders continued to deliver our regular group cycle rides. The aim of these rides is to improve health and wellbeing in our community through the joy of cycling, and to empower people to choose cycling as a green transport option. These rides are supported by our partner bicycle shop, Williams Cycles. The rides serve our local community by providing accessible cycling opportunities, tackling inequality, and reducing social isolation. Our impact was recognised by Cycling UK in the Community Champion category of their 100 Women in Cycling 2024 Awards. 2. Charity Partnerships We expanded our partnerships with local charities and established new partnerships to increase our community impact. Members of our community volunteered their time with Wheel Good Vibes to support local charity cycling events, which raised vital funds for Sue Ryder Hospice and Maggie’s Cancer Centre Cheltenham. We formalised our partnership with Fresh Hope Charity, which runs the St Paul’s Cycle Project. Our partner bicycle shop, Williams Cycles, promoted the work of this charity with their suppliers and facilitated a significant donation from suppliers. This enabled the expanded impact of this community initiative, serving an area of deprivation in Cheltenham. 3. Community Fundraising Members of our community who have advanced their cycling skills and adopted cycling as a sport registered for various cycling endurance challenges and, together, fundraised thousands of pounds for these charities.
Wheel Good Vibes CIC actively engaged with stakeholders during 2024 including participants, volunteers, partner organisations, and local supporters. Feedback was gathered through session discussions, surveys and ongoing dialogue. Feedback and Action from 2023 Stakeholder Consultations: Created a regular women’s community ride group and established informal group socials to build on connections made during the group rides. Delivered a programme of progression rides to enable steady confidence-building for beginner riders. Continued to offer cycling equipment to loan from our partner bicycle shop, Williams Cycles. Established a buddy scheme with riders who have built confidence with us to ‘buddy up’ with new riders and support the journey of other rides. Created a sub-group of community members who volunteered at charity cycle events and raised funds for charities together by participating in cycling endurance challenges. Formalised our partnerships with local charities and community groups: Sue Ryder, Active Gloucestershire, Maggie’s Cheltenham and Fresh Hope Charity. Results of 2024 Stakeholder Consultations and Actions for 2025: Participants would benefit from learning about bicycle maintenance and basic mechanics. There is significant demand for adult learn to ride sessions. There is a continued preference for women-only spaces. Members of our community who have progressed their cycling skills and confidence would be willing to train as volunteer ride leaders for our community rides. This feedback will form the basis of our projects for 2025.
