Balance sheet statements

For the year ending 31 July 2025 the company was entitled to exemption under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.

The members have not required the company to obtain an audit in accordance with section 476 of the Companies Act 2006.

The directors acknowledge their responsibilities for complying with the requirements of the Act with respect to accounting records and the preparation of accounts.

These accounts have been prepared and delivered in accordance with the provisions applicable to companies subject to the small companies regime.

The directors have chosen not to file a copy of the company's profit and loss account.

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Grant income receivable in respect of the company’s activities is recognised as income at later of the date on which the art events to which the grant relates take place or the date of receipt of the grant. Grant income received in advance is reflected as deferred income until the date of the event. Grant income relating to capital assets acquired by the company is reflected as a reduction in the carrying value of the relevant assets.

Company activities and impact

While 2024/25 is an interim year between festivals, Alton Arts Festival continued to serve the community through ongoing Life Drawing classes which supporting skill development and creative expression. Our partnership with Goldfinch Books continued to serve the community through a series of music, comedy and literary events that have broadened the town’s cultural horizons. Simultaneously, the festival invested in strategic development - securing funding that will support our expanding schools programme in 2026.

Consultation with stakeholders

The officers of the Arts Festival have worked continuously on the 2026 festival. Engagement has taken place with schools about our outreach programme, securing the dates in their calendar and ensuring we’re providing activities that enhance the curriculum and bring new creative opportunities to local children. We’re also continuing to work with local venues, the town and district council and local businesses to prepare for AAF 2026.
