The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention.

Significant judgements and estimates
In preparing these consolidated financial statements, the directors are required to make judgements, estimates and assumptions that affect the application of the Group's accounting policies and the reported amounts of assets, liabilities, income and expenses. Actual results may differ from these estimates. Estimates and underlying assumptions are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Revisions to estimates are recognised prospectively.

NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS - continued
for the year ended 31 MARCH 2025

2. ACCOUNTING POLICIES - continued
Deferred tax
Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the statement of financial position date.

Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the year end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference.

Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits.

Foreign currencies
Assets and liabilities in foreign currencies are translated into sterling at the rates of exchange ruling at the statement of financial position date. Transactions in foreign currencies are translated into sterling at the rate of exchange ruling at the date of transaction. Exchange differences are taken into account in arriving at the operating result.

Investments
Listed investments are measured at fair value with changes in fair value recognised in profit or loss.

The fair value is the price that would be received if an asset is sold in an orderly transaction between market participants at the measurement date. The fair value of assets traded in an active market is based on quoted market prices at the close of trading on the reporting date. For quoted financial assets the valuation is based on the closing bid price.
