The Company delivers a range of programmes and services including technical and vocational education, sports and recreation education, and wider educational support services. Scorpio Community Development CIC operates on a not-for-profit basis. All activities are undertaken to further the Company’s community purpose, which is to relieve poverty, reduce disadvantage and support the development of stronger, safer and more resilient communities. Political and charitable donations

During the year, the Company made no political donations and incurred no expenditure on political activities. The Company did, however, provide charitable support through the donation of time, professional skills and expertise to support local faith organisations, youth groups and newly established not-for-profit organisations. This support included the delivery of first aid training, safeguarding training and developmental support aimed at strengthening governance, operational capacity and service delivery within emerging community organisations. These activities were undertaken in furtherance of the Company’s community interest objectives and reflect its commitment to supporting the development of safe, effective and sustainable organisations that work with children, young people and vulnerable groups. No cash charitable donations were made during the year; all support was provided in kind.

The Company is committed to equality of opportunity and aims to provide a working environment in which disabled employees and those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) are treated fairly, with dignity and respect. The Company actively seeks to ensure that no employee or applicant is disadvantaged on the grounds of disability. Recruitment, selection, training, development and promotion decisions are made based on aptitude, skills and ability, with reasonable adjustments made wherever practicable to support individual needs. The Company employs and supports individuals with a wide range of disabilities and neurodivergent conditions, including but not limited to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, deafness, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), autism spectrum conditions, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), partial sight impairment and physical disabilities, alongside a broad range of SEND. Where an employee becomes disabled during their employment, the Company endeavours to retain them in suitable employment wherever possible. Appropriate support, adjustments and flexibility are provided to enable continued contribution and development within the organisation. Training, awareness and inclusive practice form part of the Company’s approach to workforce development, ensuring that managers and colleagues are equipped to support disabled employees effectively. This policy reflects the Company’s wider commitment to inclusion, wellbeing and the creation of a supportive and accessible workplace.

COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

Year Ending: 31 March 2025

Company activities and impact

Scorpio Community Development CIC operated with the City of Salford during this accounting period. We continued to offer outdoor activities and employment opportunities to young people aged 5-25 and also those falling within NEET. Throughout the holiday periods we were supported by Salford CVS and Citywide Catering to help combat holiday hunger. Projects supported SEND participants and families in low socioeconomic cohorts. We were able to support over 200 young people preventing holiday hunger whilst our employability project provided 30 young people with qualifications allowing them to increase their chances of employment. This was coupled with cv and interview training. We were honoured at the end of the accounting period to be nominated for the Kings Award for Voluntary Service.

Consultation with stakeholders

Projects are agreed with stake holders prior to deployment of projects. For the Dice Wars (Holiday Hunger) liaison was between the Borough Social Club, Bee Social Community Events, Citywide Catering, Salford CVS and Project planning includes gathering youth insight into what they seek. For this we accessed our DofE teams, linked in with Salford Youth Service and Youth Workers along with young people on Project Pathfinder. During the project we ran feedback at the end of any session and had assurance visits from Salford CVS. We also had security input following the attack in Southport on a youth event.
