The directors present their report with the financial statements of the company for the period ended 31 March 2025

Principal activities of the company

Religioscapes CIC is a community interest company that helps communities to identify, protect and map burial grounds, holy places, religious landscapes and shrines all across the world.

Additional information

Religioscapes CIC continued to provide evaluations and assessment of the state of the Jewish heritage of the East End of London, including former synagogue buildings and other structures and sites associated with the Jewish faith there. As a part of this work, educational resources were produced and guided tours for students undertaken. We also continued to conduct research work on the religious material culture of Afro-Caribbeans in Brixton in South London, and produced educational resources and guided tours for students. We continued to work on Caribbean-focused projects researching religious heritage, including formulating a link with the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel and their heritage training initiative at Codrington College in Barbados. Future work will involve the continuation of these projects, as well as the development of a new project in conjunction with the Churches Conservation Trust studying the colonial context of wall memorials in a selection of their churches.

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Income from charitable activities represents income from fundraising events or donations and gifts received from the general public and businesses. Donations and grants are recognised on an accruals basis.

Company activities and impact

Religioscapes CIC has continued to provide evaluations and assessment of the state of the Jewish heritage of the East End of London, including former synagogue buildings and other structures and sites associated with the Jewish faith there. As a part of this work, educational resources were produced and guided tours for students undertaken. We have also continued to conduct research work on the religious material culture of Afro-Caribbeans in Brixton in South London, and produced educational resources and guided tours for students. Furthermore, we have continued to work on Caribbean-focused projects researching religious heritage, including formulating a link with the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel and their heritage training initiative at Codrington College in Barbados. In addition to this, one of the Director's has continued to undertake fieldwork in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, focused on the archaeology of rock-cut churches as part of a PhD research project. This fieldwork involves building capacity in Ethiopia through providing training to locally based archaeologists from the Ethiopian Heritage Authority. Future work will involve the continuation of these projects, as well as the development of a new project in conjunction with the Churches Conservation Trust studying the colonial context of wall memorials in a selection of their churches.
