The Queer Clinic CIC exists to help the LGBTQIA+ (referred to henceforth as LGBT+) community to access wellbeing services and to feel more empowered. For our first year of operation, we focused on our National Lottery grant funded project to run a series of workshops by and for the queer community. We ran 8 workshops online with different facilitators, of whom all were part of the LGBT+ community, and 5 were trans or non-binary. Subjects ranged from health related (self-massage for stomach/womb issues, accessible yoga. EFT) to more practical skills (self-advocacy, voice work for trans people.) All workshops have been uploaded to an online resource we have created to offer free long term access and extend our impact. We have also created other digital resources to go alongside these. Our online resources are free to access and will be reused throughout the project and beyond. Our beneficiaries were around 40 LGBT+ people this year, many of whom are neurodivergent and/or living with chronic pain. Participants feel safe and have been given the opportunity to develop useful skills to bring into their lives, and improve their quality of life.
Our stakeholders are three-fold: 1. Facilitators and therapists who are also part of the LGBT+ community 2. Clinic clients and workshop participants from the LGBT+ community 3. The broader LGBT+ community 1. We received very positive feedback from our facilitators who were involved right from the conception of Queer Clinic and remain very keen to offer some of their work to the community in a supportive space at accessible prices or free of charge. Fundamentally the organisation was created to link the desire of this stakeholder group to support the LGBT+ community with the known need of LGBT+ people for a safe space to be able to access workshops and therapies without fear of discrimination or other barriers. 2. We seek feedback from all of our clients and this has been completely positive, with many citing the safe space and accessible treatments and workshops as life changing. There has been no adverse feedback at all. QUOTES "Queer Clinic has been a really restorative and welcoming space for me - I always feel accepted for who I am and unlike other massage environments I don't feel self conscious about my body or transness. I've discovered new things about how my body handles stress and tension and come away feeling relaxed, refreshed and with ... practices to bring into my daily life to continue to benefit outside the clinic. I would thoroughly recommend it to any queer person, especially if you're anxious about massages - there isn't a better or more welcoming place." "Working with Rosie has been a really magical and powerful experience. Her method is incredibly intuitive, grounded, and embodied ... each time I leave our calls feeling fully seen, like I've really tapped in to the heart of the issue, and often like massive amounts of energy have shifted. It really feels like magic. If you are looking for a calm, deeply intuitive and grounding coach, I highly recommend working with Rosie." "When I was a child I had very bad traumas, as sexual, physical and psychological abuses. Now I feel better and lighter regarding those experiences. I'm more conscious of who I am and what I can achieve in life. Thank you very much, you are wonderful. I was always able to arrive at healing and growth after a session, and in fact, several pieces of work and wisdom that we reached have been serving me significantly until today and onwards. The guidance is gentle yet firm, and non-judgemental ... I would recommend to anyone I care about that needs to heal some deep wounds." 3. We are keen to broaden our reach to more LGBT+ people and have created our website and social media activity - funded by the National Lottery grant - to facilitate this. We will report on this activity further in the next annual report but early indications are very positive.
Full details of directors' remuneration are provided in Part 3 of the CIC34 report. Directors do not get paid for the director role.
