COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

SEDULOUS COLLECTIVE CIC

Company Number: 16031664 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 October 2025

Company activities and impact

During the financial year, Sedulous Collective CIC operated as a community-focused research, evaluation and engagement organisation, working to strengthen the role of lived experience and community knowledge in shaping policy, services and systems. The company’s activities were centred on supporting more inclusive, participatory and equitable approaches to research and decision-making, particularly in relation to health, wellbeing, inequality and access to opportunity. Throughout the year, Sedulous Collective CIC delivered and supported a range of small-scale research, engagement and learning activities. These included community-led discussions, co-design sessions and reflective spaces that enabled individuals and organisations to explore complex social issues from the perspective of those most affected. Our work prioritised creating safe, accessible environments where participants could share experiences, contribute insight and influence conversations that often take place without meaningful community involvement. A key focus of the company’s activity was relationship-building across communities, voluntary and community sector organisations, and institutional stakeholders. By acting as a connector and facilitator, Sedulous supported dialogue between groups that do not always have equal access to decision-making processes. This helped amplify under-represented voices and supported more informed, grounded understanding of lived realities within policy and service contexts. The company’s work benefited the community by: - centring lived experience as a form of expertise - increasing opportunities for community members to contribute to research and discussion on issues that affect them - supporting organisations to reflect on and improve participatory practice - fostering collaboration, learning and mutual understanding across sectors

Consultation with stakeholders

Sedulous Collective CIC engages with a range of stakeholders who are affected by, or contribute to, the company’s activities. These stakeholders include community members with lived experience, voluntary and community sector organisations, project partners and collaborators, and organisations with an interest in participatory research and engagement practice. During the financial year, stakeholder consultation took place through informal and proportionate methods, including facilitated discussions, project-based conversations, reflective sessions and ongoing dialogue with community participants and partner organisations. Feedback was gathered primarily through discussion and shared learning rather than through formal surveys. In response to stakeholder feedback highlighting the need for greater connection, shared learning and collaboration across the community research and engagement sector, Sedulous Collective CIC established the Nuff Sed Collective. The Collective is a free, open membership space focused on collaboration, peer learning and collective action, providing stakeholders with opportunities to share experiences, explore challenges and contribute to shaping future work and practice. Feedback from stakeholders also informed practical changes to the company’s activities, including adaptations to session formats to improve accessibility, a stronger focus on creating safe and inclusive spaces for discussion, and the continued refinement of facilitation approaches to better centre lived experience and community knowledge. The company will continue to engage stakeholders in a meaningful and proportionate way as its activities develop, ensuring that stakeholder feedback remains central to how work is designed, delivered and improved.
