    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

    Tangible fixed assets are stated at cost less depreciation. Depreciation is provided on all tangible fixed assets at rates calculated to write off the cost, less estimated residual value, of each asset over its expected useful life. Depreciation is provided at the following rates: Fleece and Fibre Hub Over 20 years

Company activities and impact

The principal activities during the year were to: - develop, deliver and enhance commercially viable crafting programmes including crafting programmes for children and adults, away days, and large-scale community projects; and - develop, deliver and enhance Animal Assisted Activity sessions for individuals and groups to engage with the animals At Birkhill House. Throughout 2024-25, At Birkhill House created new opportunities for visitors, volunteers and staff and continuing to serve our mission to improve mental health in the Scottish Borders. For the calendar year 2024, we offered over 973 hours of workshops, 77% of which were free or funded (753 hrs). 473 of those hours were provided through support from the Improving Lives Grant Fund. 19% of them were ticketed (185.5 hrs) and 4% were by donation only (35 hrs). There were 1907 overall attendees to sessions. We also welcomed 78 volunteers, who donated 1045 hours of their time. And we worked with 16 local artisans to offer quality skill-based workshops.
