The Company’s Activities and Impact During the financial year from 01 January 2023 to 31 December 2024, BE TROPICAL CAFE TOGETHER C.I.C. carried out a range of community focused activities that delivered clear social, economic, and wellbeing benefits to local residents in Bolton and the wider Greater Manchester area. The company operated a community cafe that functioned as a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space, while also acting as a hub for wellbeing support, social prescribing activities, and skills development. The company’s activities benefited the community in the following ways: Local residents, including individuals experiencing social isolation, financial hardship, or mental health challenges, were able to access an affordable, welcoming environment to meet others, build social connections, and enjoy nutritious food. Individuals affected by the cost of living crisis were supported through affordable pricing and inclusive access to food and community activities, reducing financial pressure and food insecurity. The cafe created opportunities for paid and voluntary roles, providing work experience, skills development, and confidence building for local people seeking employment or career progression. A wide range of community wellbeing activities were delivered, including workshops, friendly meetings, peer support sessions, and structured dance and movement therapy, helping participants to improve mental health, emotional resilience, and physical wellbeing. Social prescribing activities provided non clinical support options for individuals referred through community networks, enabling people to manage stress, anxiety, loneliness, and low mood through community based engagement. Community events, shared meals, and cultural celebrations promoted inclusion, intercultural understanding, and positive relationships between people from diverse backgrounds. Vocational and skills training activities supported participants to develop practical skills, improve employability, and move towards greater economic independence. Information sharing through notice boards and digital platforms enabled residents to access local services, training opportunities, employment support, and community resources more easily. Through these activities, BE TROPICAL CAFE TOGETHER C.I.C. strengthened community cohesion, reduced social isolation, improved wellbeing outcomes, and supported individuals to feel connected, valued, and empowered within their local community.
Consultation with Stakeholders The companys key stakeholders include local residents, cafe users, refugees, diaspora communities, international students, homeless individuals and institutions, community group participants, volunteers, partner organisations, and individuals referred through community and wellbeing networks across Bolton and the wider Greater Manchester area. The directors and management team have long standing connections within the local community and developed the organisations activities based on ongoing conversations with residents, service users, and local partners. This community led approach has ensured that services remain relevant, inclusive, and responsive to local needs. Consultation with stakeholders took place through a combination of informal and structured methods. Individuals using the cafe and community space for the first time were encouraged to share feedback about their needs, preferences, and reasons for attending. This feedback helped the organisation to understand barriers to participation, including social isolation, financial pressures, and mental wellbeing challenges. Regular conversations with cafe users, workshop participants, and attendees at friendly meetings provided valuable insight into which activities were most beneficial and where additional support was required. Staff and volunteers actively gathered ideas and suggestions during day to day interactions, which informed changes to programming, opening times, and activity planning. Feedback was also collected during community events, wellbeing sessions, and social prescribing activities, enabling participants to share what had worked well and what could be improved. This ongoing consultation contributed to the expansion of dance and movement therapy sessions, peer support activities, and vocational skills training during the financial year. The organisation also engaged with partner organisations, social prescribing networks, and local community groups to ensure that services complemented existing provision and responded to emerging community needs. Through continuous listening, informal feedback, and collaborative engagement, BE TROPICAL CAFE TOGETHER C.I.C. ensured that stakeholder views directly influenced service delivery, strengthened community ownership, and supported the organisations mission to promote inclusion, wellbeing, and community resilience.
