Company activities and impact

The Spark Movement aimed to fulfil its mission to develop children’s social-emotional health and wellbeing, and create widespread social change by supporting changemakers and leaders in the year 2024-2025 by: - Launching a podcast, Spark Changemakers on 20th September 2024. A total of 19 episodes were published across 2 seasons, interviewing changemakers from across the globe, sharing stories of putting their spark into action to inspire social change. - 2 changemaker events were held in Cardiff in June and July 2024, bringing together communities and individuals who want to create change for future generations. Speakers presented their journeys to become a changemaker and attendees were encouraged to network and connect. - An online changemaker community was formed to connect people post-events, with a total of 65 people currently engaged. - 3 Spark Seeds online workshops were held in April, May and June 2024 to create a community of parents, carers and educators who want to develop children's social-emotional wellbeing and improve school systems. - We secured a literary agent in December 2024 to find a publisher for the book The Spark which sets out a vision for the work we aim to do. - We created the Spark Schools framework for school culture, working with educators in the USA and Malawi to develop the framework, ready to pilot in 2025/2026.

Consultation with stakeholders

To undertake our work we consulted with a range of professionals, parents and young people, understanding the challenges facing children and young people, and how to collectively overcome them. At Changemaker Events we held a workshop session to explore how we can better support changemakers with the right tools, spaces and build a sense of community, and Spark Seeds sessions were held with parents, carers and educators to explore ideas to influence our work with schools and education systems. Our framework for school culture was developed in partnership with educators from the USA and Malawi.
