Additional information
The WCO did not succeed in its bid for funding and as such discussions were held with the Norfolk Rivers Trust asset locked charity for the transfer of the River Fly Sampling project and the ownership of the Sampling Kits. NRT was the only asset locked charity noted in the WOC constitution to transfer assets to on dissolution. This transfer was agreed and the transfer was completed by 12th January 2026

The company overseas the community element of the Wensum Catchment Partnership. It provides structural support and entity to volunteers undertaking various ecological monitoring activities across the River Wensum. During the financial year 2024-2026, its activities have benefited the community in the following ways: Trained and educated local resident volunteers in Invertebrate monitoring Provided health and safety equipment and development of appropriate risk assessments Developed catchment scale analysis of Septic Tank distribution Undertaken 36 Riverfly kick sampling sessions
The company’s stakeholders are its volunteers and residents benefiting from having a better riverine environment within the Wensum. It currently has 24 volunteer members registered and formally trained in River Fly sampling processes, who from 13th January 2026 will be directed by the Norfolk Rivers Trust. 3185 properties have been studied and identified as Community clusters of properties with Septic Tanks that have potential for upgrading via Nutrient Credit trading, enabling sustained housing growth, whilst delivering clear environment benefit.
