  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable excluding discounts and rebatesbut including value added tax and other sales taxes. Turnover from the sale of goods is recognised when goods have been transferred to them. Turnover from the rendering of services is recognised by reference to the stage of completion of the contract. Turnover includes amounts received from various bodies in te form of grants.

Company activities and impact

The company ran a food bank every Friday in Hove to benefit those in need who lived within one mile of Palmeira Square . We accepted referrals from all support agencies in the City and also allowed clients to self refer . We ask clients to make a weekly donation of £3 for individuals and £5 for families but turn no one away if they have no money . Clients take away approximately £30 of food which is sourced from donations from local supermarkets ( surplus) , Fareshare Sussex and generous donations from other local charities and the Household support fund funded through Brighton and Hove City Council. we support on average 45 -50 households per week .
