Nutrigrow Lancashire CIC was established to contribute to a regenerative economy in the Lancaster District by promoting sustainable food practices, reducing food waste, and supporting local producers. The company’s long-term mission is to build a resilient and environmentally responsible local food network by sourcing ingredients locally, reducing carbon emissions, and encouraging healthier eating habits across the wider community, including low-income individuals, while ensuring that its services remain open and accessible to all residents. During the current financial period, the company has been in its early development stage and has not yet been able to fully commence trading activities due to insufficient start-up capital and limitations in accessing the necessary equipment and operational infrastructure. Despite these challenges, the directors have focused on project planning, community engagement, partnership development, and funding applications in order to establish a strong foundation for future operations. The company’s planned activities include providing affordable, nutritious meals, reducing food waste, supporting local farmers, and delivering community workshops. Although progress has been slower than anticipated due to funding constraints, Nutrigrow Lancashire CIC remains committed to achieving sustainable social, environmental, and economic impact within the Lancaster District.
Lancashire Residents, Vulnerable community members, Community organisations, Local producers, During the development phase, consultation has taken place through meetings and discussions with community members and potential partners. Feedback has helped shape the project’s focus on affordable meals, local sourcing, and food waste reduction. More structured consultation will be implemented once operations begin.
