Within the last year we have completed 3 community photography and drone courses to 18 learners, 9 food bank courses to 27 learners, Functional maths courses from entry level to level 2 to 30 learners, Functional skills English x 3 courses with 10 learners per course, 3 skills for employment, training and personal development accredited qualifications to 30 learners, a launch a satellite course for 6 learners, all in the Hendon area of Sunderland with 99% homeless learners, we have also offered other courses within the homeless centre Swan Lodge including knitting, PE with Joe Wicks, Walking, Gardening, Comic book, digital media, football, tennis, boxing, swimming, golf, arts and crafts, sexual health and baking courses. We have delivered these courses to over 90 people. The course have benefited primarily homeless learners by giving them new skills specifically relating to owning their own tenancy, helping to apply for jobs and skills that are transferable in the workplace. The learners have also benefited from being kept busy with learner feedback stating this has helped mental health and lowered alcohol and drug intake. The courses have benefited the community as we have taught life skills that will help the learners when they go back into the community to live, learners have also been able to access a bond scheme to help them to gain their own tenancy which has helped council figures and Sunderland's homelessness figures. We have offered robust information and guidance to all learners to ensure they know how to access further training and job opportunities to help them in the future. We have had to redo our matrix as this was the third year again we were awarded matrix accreditation. We have also taken residents on outings, including walking on their daily exercise to take photographs, shopping trips, beauty sessions, going for lunch, visiting a coffee shop to give learners other experiences. We have also benefited the community by getting our learners involved in community activities and helping at local events. We have been holding weekly tennis sessions. We have also helped with emergencies and helped to make soup and sandwiches when required, we have also helped put together food parcels to help those in need. We also help with the Salvation Army toy appeal and help logistically give out these toys at Christmas. We also have helped with local events such as charity football matches with Northumbria police and Ambers Law. We also have been invoiced with ICOS and helped with their events in the park to raise money for Ukrainian Refugees, including doing litter picks. We also helped take part in a homelessness choir and help to set this up singing at Christmas celebrations. We have also helped raise funds for the Connor Brown Trust and helped a learner go to Gambia to help build a school. We have also this year set up the LADS volunteer project which is a volunteer project for any learner to get involved in where we help in the community this has included painting and decorating, landscape gardening, helping clear rubbish etc. Some of the learners have gone on to volunteering and jobs, and some have gone on to owning their own tenancies. We have also helped with local scout group and got them involved with homelessness and education. We have also continued working with local football teams and have become the sponsors for an over 40's team and the Swan Lodge Salvation Army homeless football team by helping them to buy strips and to promote other worthy charities in the area. We have also been involved with well being football sessions each week that our learners can access this benefits the community as it helps the mental health of those that we teach and through this in the school holidays we have put on sessions that the local community can get involved in.
