Company activities and impact

During this financial year, Sharing stories CIC has operated out of the premises of Bear Bookshop, running several free early years story time stay and play sessions and several books groups targeted at groups that are less likely to read for pleasure. These activities have benefitted the community in the following ways: -Young babies and toddlers have been introduced to new stories and nursery rhymes and the importance of reading to your children has been discussed with over 100 parents and carers. -A group of older primary school aged children (10 children) have taken part in a regular book group, being introduced to a wider range of topics and authors than they would usually read and the amount of time they spent reading for pleasure and their enjoyment of reading reportedly increased as a result. -A group of young adults from a local special education provider attended storytelling and activity sessions to engage with books and reading in accessible ways. -We have hosted a regular book group for women of colour, reading books based around themes of diversity.
